Looks like a mmo version of the steam game chivalry.
I thought the same thing. While I love chivalry, I kind of doubt this game has the depth of combat that chivalry has, though, especially since it's not based on first-person perspective.
As for the video, well, it looks decent considering it's a very small dev company.
It's the same basic concept (directional swings and blocking) it's just not nearly as tight. both can be played in first or third person.

And to add on your response, I don't see how chivalry has a more indepth combat when you only need to look at the weapon to block. In games like mount & blade (Which is what gloria victis is trying to portray btw), you instead have to block to a specific side to successfully block a hit. You also have to take account of feints, kicks, and your surroundings.

If anyone is interested in a quick overview of what's to come with some of the new combat animations, here is a video about that very topic (skip to minute 3 for the animation overview)
New animations or i'll never log in again. especially the jumping animation it's just horrible. but for a 20$ EA and a indie dev team i have to give them credit it's an alright game.

Yes, the jumping animations are - well, just horrible . But those specifics animations will be replaced (luckily) with the upcoming change.

I still have hope they could succeed based on that.
Besides, mount & blade combat looks clunky to some, great to others (Me for instance). It won't be for everyone anyway.
Forgive the confusion but what else should there be in a Medieval setting?
