I dont care about the leaks or whatever. I've interested to see the end product.
At the end of the day, this relaunch/remake (whatever) is something we never expected to see so the whole thing is like a massive bonus. If it's crap? So what? The old version is still gunna be there and if you don't like the original then surely you've got over it by now.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
this is damage control. Apparenly what Funcom said about changing combat from "ground up" was simply untrue.
This Reddit leak probably saved a lot of people $30-$100 and lost Funcom a lot of sales.
But thats what happens when you overpromise and underdeliver.
The relaunch will be F2P. How would people lose money? Personally the combat does look quite a bit different from what they currently have. I guess we'll see.

They're most likely going to sell a bunch of founder's pack that will give u access to the pre-alpha beta phases or whatever. 30-100usd sounds accurate
I think studios need to swing back a little closer to the circle of trust. I get and respect that they can revenue generate from EA or paid testing, but I think there was a lot of benefit to tried and true testers you could trust with your secrets. Trust is a pretty valuable commodity.
Who can trust funscam anymore?
Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing. PS3
-Give it a new name
-Build as much hype as possible.
-Hide the fact that the game is just a re-purposed stripped down version of the original (hint)
-Remove tab targeting, and make investigative/puzzle quests "easier" (here it comes)
-Make it F2P (almost there)
-Re-release on PC and CONSOLES (ahhhh there it is)
-Profit off of people who don't know of or are fans of FUncom's long con

I agree that this new "version" makes no sense. A re-purposed stripped down version of the original game is exactly what this will be, mark Fly's words.
Funcom has never been able to come up with a good combat system. I don't see it here until i get to try it. And the ui going from 8 hot keys to 5 doesn't make me want to play the game either. So sick of these companies dumbing down how many skills i can use. To me this screams console coming soon.
Sure its not like the NGE mechanically in the exact same way, but its close enough.
Surely a new twist to it, let the museum servers reign?
The worst part about this is the year long hints and lies of future content and speculations running unmitigated in the forums, stringing us along for too long, season 2, ha!. Much like the Trials of Obiwan, even though that did really arrive, with the, for at least, about a month, the new Combat Upgrade(CU).. then hit us with Legends. It's bait and switch at it's most corrupt.
Personally for me and sharing my own feels having Hologrinded, and force village completed into NGE was quite devastating.
Having played TSW since launch with a Lifetimesub all skills completed, still working on lore and collections and some missions, thinking it was going to be a season 2, not as devastating but it sure wont make me replay legends, well at least not before the story has advanced past the point I'm currently at, will it ever though?. I will fill my museum on the old server(maybe), and then just hang around for the community as long as they let us, how long will they keep those old servers running you reckon?

In all fairness, the original TSW would have worked very well on console, maybe better than it did on PC. TSW felt kinda like a game designed for console that was being shoved down the throat of PC users.
Whatever Legends will become, a console game, a coop online RPG for gamepads, what really triggered me is that the story will not continue for a long time now, if ever, how long will legends play catch-up, they said they want to add Tokyo but I'v heard no plans on extending the story, so this also marks the end of the storyline, without even saying it? bottom line, that made me sad, and in one way its also a compliment to Funcom and their great TSW stories, I love them and wish them a good journey as legends (of tomorrow(tm)).
Why not save all of the negative criticism for SWL's eventual release? Let's tell it like it is. All we have here, and in every other thread regarding SWL, is a bunch of malcontents who are unhappy about the manner in which Funcom is making this revamp and therefore sabotaging SWL before it has even released.
It's not like Funcom suddenly dropped a whammy and changed the game without advanced notice. Funcom has advertised they would be changing TSW, in a big way, for a long time now. Everyone knew changes were coming. As a matter of fact, all but a small loyal minority had been long complaining for some time now, if not forever, about many of TSW's game play mechanics and systems that they did not like and would like to see changed. So now Funcom is finally making change, and people are still complaining. It would be nice if you all would make up your minds.
The consensus has always been that TSW is a fine game in many respects, but in many respects it lacked. It has been out for five years now, and I think most will agree that the game has never managed to catch on with the masses, despite its huge potential. It's not like Funcom hasn't given TSW a change. Five years is a long time. And during those five years all we have heard is players repeatedly complaining about improvements Funcom should make to increase its player base. From minor improvements to the tutorial and starting areas, to other varied promotional events, TSW has never managed to gain any significant pop to their population. As a result, today that population is a very tiny and stagnant niche. Funcom could just let the franchise die, and if they did where would that leave us? Funcom should be praised for at least trying to do something to revive the franchise and yet all we have is a whole lot of negative criticism before SWL has even been released.
Listen, I get it. Many of its loyal players feel betrayed because they liked the way TSW was and they would have like the game to stay virtually the same, and simply in essence, released additional content as they have done in the past. That has gotten them nowhere. Let's give them a chance. TSW will still be up and going when SWL is released. If it doesn't go well with SWL, they may just scratch it and guess what? ... TSW will be next. You can best bet that Funcom did not come to this decision lightly. More than likely, the reason Funcom has made this change is because they realize there is no future for TSW. Without SWL, TSW may have gone into perpetual maintenance mode without any future updates anyways.
Be happy that they are, atleast, giving us an alternative with SWL. You could be getting nothing.

<snip rest of bs>. Oh, yes. Let's just save it to release when people could buy it without reading any negative criticism? What's your fc name? Also disregarding those who spent 5 years on their characters is first ever in the mmo scene.
I am confused, I bought TSW when it went b2p played for a bit but dropped off. But it isnt on my gamelist on my funcom account page AoC (which I purchased and subbed for about 6 months along time ago), AO (which I only played the f2p version) and the single player game I bought The Longest Journey are on list but not TSW. Any ideas why?

I don't play it anyways because Funcom couldn't make it fun, or even somewhat realistic felt too unreal to play, needed better cosmetic systems, no paying for plastic surgery and all that to edit characters over-all I could have done better at having a designer make this and market it in game in the first place.
The only game I was interested from Funcom in playing was Conan Exiles until I found out it had Denuvo.
But I honestly think FunCom is getting desperate and I don't expect their company to be around for long.
I guess that depends on what you think long is , I recall the same exact thing being said in 2001 after AO release
And SWL is under an NDA and Masiveley is a s culpable as the trailer trash the leaked the info .. And should be held accountable .. But birds of a feather .. Massiveley is a trailer trash site ..

If you believe The Secret World [Original] is still going to be around after the "we think console players have fat deformed controller fingers and ain't smaht" version. Go to http://thesecretworld.com and tell me how many clicks it takes to get to the forums.
After you get back, check out all the optimizations they made to the original TSW engine here.

I remember looking forward to a MMO taking place in a modern setting and I was eager to try modern weapons in that set up. I really liked the world theme and quests, but the combat was very dull imo. It didn't seem to matter much which weapons you chose. This also weakened the skill choices I think. The combat made me grow bored with the game.
So I am glad that they are going to rework combat and hope it will become much more action oriented with a noticable punch in combat.
I just hope that they won't keep Agartha as main hub (if the source is correct about this anyway), because that place is boring and would feel too disconnected from the rest imo. The main cities are too awesome to neglect.

Does this mean you're salty because you clicked the optimization link or am I supposed to be salty for pointing out FUncom is on its 4th "spin off" of TSW?
