I'm LFg, but not one dictated what I need to be...

Since the time of Ultima it seems every single game out there dictates to you what you can be, what you can do. Every character of your class is exactly the same.  I no longer want that, I am sick of putting up with how people dictate I should play.

I want a game where every single character starts at 0 skill in anything, with 10 to str, dex, sta, agi, int, wis, and charisma. I do not want trainers so to speak where you walk up to them and boom you are a certain class. I want a game where what you do decides what you are. Log wood and you increase str, sta, and gain logging skill.  Something without defined classes, just what you choose to do.

I would like to find a game where you could be a summoner so to speak start out learning magic through scrolls then find a book of the occult and gain the ability to summon demons, or commune with the dead to learn the ability to summon dead, or study the elements to summon elementals, or even learn about materials to create golems.  I would like the ability to if I wanted to I could have summoning skills but be a tank, or I could summon dead and learn holy magic with it, or demons and death magic, or plate armor and elemental spells... well the list is endless. I want a pet system that makes sense where you can gain a pet through quests have it gain stats hunting beside you.

I know there has to be some limits so maybe have a limit so maybe only be able to master 4 or 5 skills period. I just want to be able to create my own class, do my own thing, have a character that I actually created and makes sense to me. I do not want traditional leveling, I want skills and stats to increase by use, not through arbitrarily gaining levels. The problem is, what I want does not exist so I keep playing Eve online for free through plex until something better comes along.

Play Darkfall!.. its inspired by UO. Uhh what do you mean by dictate what you can be? Uhh you can tame and create mounts and you need scrolls. The demon is easy to summon but the GM may have an event where the mobs come alive and a super demon appears that is once in a lifetime. You can commune with someone who died... just give them their stuff back or help them back to their corpse. You can summon someone back to the game who had previously quit. You can summon people. Summoning other things I have heard about but never got into.... might be there? (tell me if it is?) There are no pets though. Damn you have lots of requirements. Try EVE version of medieval aka Darkfall.

@Sid_Vicious Is it me or do you REALLY have a hard on for Darkfall? 75% of your posts I see are you praising it.

And to answer the OP, try playing Runescape, or if you can wait a bit, try Camelot Unchained. If you don't mind straying from fantasy, there's Star Citizen, another alpha game with TONS of potential and a great studio behind it.

Haven and Hearth.    Achieves quite a bit of freedom through it's crafting system in letting players be whatever they want.

Screeps.   though it's a very different kind of game and RL skill intensive.   You're working on making a slow time RTS game using programming skills (literally RTS mechanics where the step time is around 2.5 seconds instead of 15 milliseconds).   Which has the depth you're looking for.

Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.

Described a tabletop game, or Skyrim, or ESO.  Your skills increase by what you do and you can use any weapon with it's attached skills.  Flexible.

ESO is $9.90 on steam right now. Might be a good time to join.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”
