Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed.  Current mmo's grouping: tinder.  swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.

How about a new game instead of new features on a 13 year old game?

Perhaps because EQ2 still has players, that are playing daily and buying subscriptions and items in the store?

Perhaps you know..some actually like the game for one of the best housing systems, for a game with a huge amount of PvE content, for a good crafting system with quests and not just grind, for the amazing guild houses or for the--shinies!!

Besides there is no guarantee a new game will be better and it will take years before it gets lots of content. Sometimes old games mature nicely and just get better with time :)

Absolutely agree with this. There is obviously loyal player base that play and support this game and the developers develop content for them so I don't see any problem with that.

Well obviously it is way easier to develop content since you are employing those people anyhow than making a new game.
IMO there is not nearly enough players left to warrant running the game anymore.

New game?Sure i would love a new Everquest game but not if some rinky dink outfit is going to make some cheap crowd funded game than advertise it here with some 8.5 rating.I already saw what Smedley was trying to peddle,it looked like some abandon ware game from 1980.

If Daybreak ever makes some money and wants a new game" i highly doubt it"it would have to be a really good game and not just a EQ title or mobile app or anything cheap,we already have enough crap flooding the market.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

A proper eq3 would be the best announcement but happy to play the new TLP, and with the heritage quest thing maybe it will do what the devs probably intend and make me log on my older toons to see the neat rewards...

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Personally a remake of EQ1 would win my sub. EQ2 was just ok and drifted to far from what I loved in EQ1. Anyways, like what I want matters little. Happy to see EQ2 is still getting love =-)

Not enough players to keep it going? I think their own server status chart says quite a bit differently.

It may not be millions, but 3 full servers is still 3 full servers during semi-prime time. (Sunday 2130 EST)

Might want to rethink that. 'Halls of Fate' and Maj'Dul were both the result of merging three older servers into one. Antonia Bayle was the most populous server for the best part of a decade and now some people are describing it as dead.  Long time commentator Feldon (eq2wire) recently admitted he has not really played the game for more than a year. Feldon's search for a replacement feature writer seems to have come up empty. Many others with a great love of the game (including me) have also stopped playing.

In short the game goes on, but it is fading fast.

They need to make a new EQOA already. It would be amazing on PS4,PC. They ran EQOA with a small group of diehard fans for years into the PS3's life cycle and it was for PS2 and had really dated graphics at the end. EQOA also outlived tens if not hundreds of pc mmos so it had to be making some money.. Doubt it will happen but being my first mmo if EQOA2 was ever announced it would be my new sub mmo for sure at least for a few months.

Well I always try new big name games , play for a couple of months then go back to EQ 2. The game has updates, new features, decorating houses like no other game and wonderful communities. We don't need all the short attention players out there but the dedicated ones that see the value of the game and I think we have that base of players :) !

It's a mature player base doubt they hanging about the starter areas or lower level areas. If you go to the higher level areas you might actually see people playing.
