Crowns of Power, an MMO developed by Rampid Interactive, originally debuted in 2008, though shut down in 2011. Usually that is the end of a story. However, an intrepid group of fans who missed their favorite MMO got in touch with members of the original team and have successfully purchased the development and publication rights to Crowns of Power.

I miss City of Heroes but it IS on it's way back as Ship of Heroes (https://www.shipofheroes.com/)
Agree hope it works out for them.
I wouldn't hold your breath. They canceled their Kickstarter de to lack of funds. They claim development is still ongoing and that they will launch sooner than previously planned. Their way if achieving that is to release an unfinished game. Basically a small slice if it and will add to it over time. In other words it will be something like the starter area will be available to play at launch. I'm sorry, but that is a horrible way to launch a MMO.

I'm really happy to see that it will be returned in it's original state & can imagine how all of the vets feel, even with the bitter sweet reason.
Looking forward to how everything pans out. Good luck you guys. o/
Yeah, Star Wars is hot and god only knows how much Disney would charge for such a licence.
Bill Gates or some other billionaire could probably afford it.

COH was sued by Marvel. Slim chance of that coming back, no matter what was said about it being on the return.
There are several games I would like to see come back, and could host them rather cheaply on a server - but have no idea how to contact each dev, nor how much they would want for a now defunct game.
I think City of Titans is probably the closer game. Whether they finish it or not is another thing.

First off did I ever say SWG was for sale? No I did not. Second the said article reports that avid fans contacted the developer to buy the game so what's to stop a fan of SWG to do it.

Disney has no rights to SWG, Lucas arts and formerly SOE Hold the rights to the game Disneys purchase of starwars would more than likely be irrelevant to set purchase.

LucasArts is actually part of Disney...

Ok well the under lying question would be lucasarts and soe have any development right to SWG still and would SWG fall under the sale.
