Quake Champions is finally letting the press folks talk about their time in Closed Beta, and we’re happy to report that we’re absolutely terrible at the game. Normally, this wouldn’t be something we’d celebrate, but that’s the thing about Quake… its breakneck speed and over the top action mean that even when you’re dying every few seconds you’re likely still going to have a good time. Read on for our first impressions.

    OverQuake looks fun if not at all original.

    The game is really good, just don't expect to beat people who are playing beta. It has no matchmaking yet so you get matched against super good people.

    I went 3 and 18 in my first match, while I did enjoy it I am not sure I am into that level of humiliation anymore lol

    That, and I'm told that most of the first waves were all for the pro players.

    Didn't get to play much since I got my key few hours before the servers went down, but it was really fun.
    Also yeah like most people here in my first game I was respawning and dying like 2-3 seconds later, but 3-4 games down the road and things started to improve :)

    Its exactly what I was looking for.

    Superfast old school FPS , combined with Overwatch character specialisation.

    The game is also very well executed. Its a real deal , Quake Arena quality. No imitation.


    I will surely be playing. In fact shame beta was so short :(

    The beta has been a blast for me so far :D if you're getting absolutely wrecked, don't just grab a gun and look for opponents, instead learn the item spawn locations and just hop from armor to armor, you'll encounter plenty combat anyway while you're stacking up

    Just so you know, the original quake was where Team Fortress came from, which is where Team Fortress 2 came from, which is where....Overwatch came from. Honestly, in the end, who even cares? If it is a good game; it is a good game.

    Sounds like a great game -- IF you're looking for a hectic FPS with a little bit more variety in character choice. I'll stick with being bad at Overwatch. I like the attack/defend and escort missions, and characters you don't have to have eagle eyes and super fast reflexes to play, but maybe some strategic thinking and knowing when to switch characters and things like that. As long as I stick to Quickplay it's pretty fun for a casual player like me. Different strokes for different folks, chacun a son gout, and all that.

    i do not like hero classes. I don't really enjoy classes at all.

    I don't get it. There are aspects of this game and it's mechanics that has me confused how this is aiming to be a competitive game. Don't think I'm allowed to talk about them though.
