Plus removing it and making damage depends on Mind for healers could be do-able but it would then remove all the difficulty of dpsing as a healer and stance dancing. IMO it would be way to OP if they did that and would most likely result in a damage nerf to accompany it. It would be way to much changes, so it's very unlickely ^^
Easy solution, Make the healer spells use mind insted of int. This way there is no need for cleric stance, and its needed in this game when healers are expected to play 2 roles at once. As to it being op, its not, you forget cleric stance also has that 10% damage boost, so we'd lose that, in exchange it makes it easier to dps. It is in no way op. Thats like saying its OP for a dragoons skills to be str based. or a ninja's to be dex based. Healers are the only one who get screwed on stats like this.
As to it lowering diffculty? so what? healers already have a stressful enough job keeping some of the idiots that play ff14 alive, they need a break. I've seen some shit in my time man. The stupidity of some players still amazes me today.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
This. The stance dancing is unnecessary and dumb. Also frees up a slot on the x-hotbar!
I was about to post this, as well. But I actually WAS looking to nitpick. Good recap, regardless, though. Though I doubt they're removing Cleric Stance, and just changing how it works. Felt like a click-baitey youtube title when it's a stretch to think they'd be removing it based on what was said.
Personally I wish they'd take some cues from Warhammer Online. Fantastic class design.
Also who are these people that hoped that this expansion would be about Ala Mhigo? Ala Mhigo is such a lore vacuum, and a waste of time.
While I never once thought to myself "wow, it'd be cool to go to Ala Mhigo", they're doing alright with that aspect of it, but I think they understood what you are saying here, and that's why they split half the expansion between Ala Mhigo, and the other half on the continent of Othard where Doma is.
But they've refused to change over the years and every time I send a ticket it's the same exact atrocity as usual, so they'll continue being boycotted. What a shame.. mainly for me.
Except healer DPS isn't counted when they design DPS checks (Gordias was just way overtuned), so no, healers are not expected to DPS, it's just a nice option for the times when constant healing isn't required.
Also, the reason Yoshi-P 'hates' it is because he doesn't like the idea that healers should be doing DPS, not that it's a bad design, or that he thinks healers should be able to DPS and heal at the same time.
This. While stance dancing certainly creates more of a divide between the skilled and the less skilled, I don't think a healer is the best role for that mechanic to have the desired effect. Personally I would like to see Cleric Stance turned into a short duration self buff for burst damage (since we would lose 10% damage from Cleric Stance). I think it would benefit those Max raid DPS moments that FFXIV tends to have. Last I played, you had WHM melding accuracy because DPS was more important than healing stats at the upper gear levels. Anytime I've seen stat mismatch situations like that in MMOs, it almost always ended up in a less effective class overall. WHM vs SCH, for example in FFXIV.
Off while healing, on for occasional dps if there's time in the group/raid.
Surprised to see this as something they were going to spend time discussing.
I didn't think it was that much of a big deal either... and while I can't speak for Scholar, there is certainly enough room on WHM x-hotbar for it....
That said, I wouldn't mind if they made it 100% reliable to remove (similar to removing a buff), or even made it so that it auto-removes on your first heal after the cooldown, as I feel like the biggest pain point is Cleric Stance not dropping reliably and wasting your heal(s) + the extra time it takes to make sure it is actually off before continuing to heal again.
CS is used as a divider between "good" and "bad" healers, the DPS/Elitist healer community sees any down time a healer has, as being lazy and or carried, and the split is 50/50 for and against CS or you suck meta on Reddit has poisoned the game. I'm sure a ton of healers are trying out RDM and the dps queues are going to be horrendous as is, now less healers will be playing too.
I'll be sticking it out on my SCH hoping Cleric Stance will be either on a long ass timer or gone completely.
