Hey guys, as the title states I am looking into getting a new chair for use while at my PC. I had a nice, yet broken, high back office desk chair but got rid of it due to the fact that the height adjust no longer worked and my sister had given me a replacement... However it would seem this replacement is horrible for me. Basically the back is too low and the seatpan is too firm and barely has much fill so its basically hurting my back and god knows where else..
I don't care much about whether its one of these so-called gaming racer chairs as long as its ergonomic and no just because it says it is or that it has recline and/or height adjust doesn't make it a really ergonomic chair. Of course by ergonomic I mean something that actually co-exists with your body's form so you may sit in it comfortably without straining or injuring yourself in the process.
The features I am looking for are that has lumber support (for those who don't know this is your lower back area), recline, rocking/tilting mechanism (not essential but a nice luxury), height adjust (of course but what seat doesn't?), armrest adjust which can adjust height and possibly position but not entirely as essential as the height and if possible seatpan adjusting such as backward and forward and perhaps tilt (hardest feature to find though it would seem). Also blue! if possible, I like blue, mainly royal blue.
Not really particularly bothered about pricing though I would prefer to stay under £150 if possible, certainly won't be splashing out £300+ ! Also of course since I use GBP currency I would prefer something I can order and receive within the UK in a reasonable length of time.
So again, please can you guys help me on this? There are so many out there both good and bad, cheap and expensive and mostly knock-offs that will probably give me more pain than my sister's already has so.. yeah, I'd really appreciate some input on this, cheers.
I have a similar problem, the seat is too firm even though it has lots of cushion. If i just sit back in a normal sitting position, back tight to the back of chair it is quite good but when gaming we tend to lean forward and that is when chairs begin to fails us. I do not believe in these so called pro gaming chairs, they are there just to look cool. The real problem is gaming and sitting down for long periods, the body is not meant for it,we need to take lots of breaks. Yes when we are young we can get away with it,example sitting in school desks for hours a day but it soon catches up with you. I think you just need to go to stores, office furniture stores and try them out.You need something that does not feel pinching under the back of the leg near the knee, otherwise it will cut off circulation. Also as you mentioned, you need proper lumbar support,i have yet to see chairs with enough adjustments to make it all viable,so yeah you need to look around and sit in them.

I would but there aren't many that support gamers like myself to be honest and there isn't an awful lot out there to check out it would seem, especially those that have plenty of chairs to try out. Infact I rang one today as they were selling racer types, even though they specialise in chairs for those with mobility problems, and the guy on the phone was rather rude to me so I decided not to bother going to their store.
I fully agree about the lumber support and probably should have added that to my features list.
Unhelpful but somewhat funny considering that would definitely cause you alot of pain after a certain amount of time so... yeah... no, just no.
You can stand in front of a computer for hours as long as you've got a table that adjusts to correct height. Personally I prefer to sit when paying some high-speed game, but more relaxing games are great when played standing up.
Wow that's something new for me - standing desks I have googled that and found that it is even sometimes connected to the running track - a perfect place for a gamer, what can I say
If you are looking for the best chair for gaming. DXRacer is by far the best. Find out where there is a showroom and try them out. They make chairs for all body types. I use mine for work and play. Sometimes for 10hr+ in a day. It has just about every adjustment. Its worth the money.

I used to suffer a ton from lower back pain from an old car accident injury.
I switche my work desk to standing - this was 2 years ago.
Zero back pain, and this is standing on my feet for 9 hours mon-fri
My guess is you didnt have a chair that fit your needs. As for standing desks being better for you. There are reports out now that show standing desks are as bad for you as seated. Standing is not being active. So standing at a desk for 8hrs is as bad for you as seated.
For me, i'd better play online games sitting in a comfortable chair with my back leaning on the foam of the chair. I have an office chair that I bought in a cheaper price and it really provides me great comfort.
