LOL people bitch about games and drm crap and well they say you cant use a certain drm platform aka steam and people bitch smh get over ya selves steam is toxic as hell nowdays anyways better off for it.
Steam uses 20% of my CPU doing nothing. Reinstall, goes away, comes back first update. Nothing running other than Steam, why the fuck is it using 20% and nothing else running.
In this day and age, it is possible to not only share servers and accounts with console ports, but in some cases to even swap freely between them and progress your account through either. How do you even fuck up this badly, that two host clients on the same platform can't share accounts?
I don't think that's the issue. I think the issue is that they've made a deal with Steam. Steam is a business. Why would they have people playing a version of the game on their platform that they bought somewhere else?
F2P games don't have this restriction. It's just games with a box fee. Sometimes they also lock you into buying only through Steam (ESO) and other times not. Someone pointed out a game they aren't locked into microtransactions and subs through Steam like ESO, but I can't remember the game now.
AOC did when it launched on steam, I don't know if it's still that way or not. But it was F2P at the time. You also got special rewards for playing through steam that were not available to other players. WHich is what I think this is all about. It allows exclusive pluses to playing through steam's platform, hence no other accounts are legit for those offers. Like EVE selling specific packages on the steam platform.

I said bye to all my games and uninstalled.
You might wanna try some of the links and help in this thread.
Does this basically mean steam players and non steam players cant play together....so it's like a whole new server with a fresh start? I'm not completely opposed to this, having a fresh economy without the insane inflation could be nice.

I doubt that, I'm pretty sure all will be on the same servers.

Whelp. To hell with you then, Daum/Pearl Abyss. Was excited to be getting back into BDO again. Looks like I won't be now. It will probably be an optimized piece of crap anyway considering running standard BDO through Steam as a Non-Steam title chugs the framerate down to practically nothing.
Not that I play BDO due to pvp, but I'm curious as to why? Aren't characters tied to an account? Why not just log into your account when you boot up the game?
VERY obvious reason, they want to FORCE new sales.Obviously the normal thing to do is have an account that is accessible from anywhere,i have had this in every game i play.
I don't remember but didn't Zeni do the same thing with TESO?Or was it just special perks for console buyers?
Worse is when one system seems to die out you are left in the cold.I feel people should straight up STOP supporting scammy developers, all you do is allow it to continue over and over.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
How can you be left in the cold when steam and the other game owners that bought them traditionally are playing on the same server. ESO is not an example because console players cannot play with PC players but that is not the case here. False dichotomy.
If Steam and Daum don't let me link my regular BDO account then i'm sticking to the non-steam client. Daum is really desperate to milk people over and over here.
I will only create a second account and start again when the PS4 version comes out. Not paying again for a second PC version just to start from scratch on the same servers i already play on.
Kakao (please stop calling them Daum...)doing everyone a favor, why all the complaining? Friends don't let friends use Steam...had Steam installed for all of 5 min once a few years back. Uninstalled and never touched it again.
Now, if Kakao could please segregate Steam players on a different server so the already trash servers don't become literally unplayable, that would be great.

The issue is server/client code not servers - as NA server cluster hardware is actually much faster than what they use in Korea, the real differentiator is client to server latency.
Hardware is only as good as the software that runs on it - who cares how much better the hardware is than Korea? The servers play like trash and that is all that matters to the end user...it doesn't help matters that all the reverse proxy channels are unplayable, forcing everyone onto fewer channels.
You're missing the most problematic portion of BDO: That world boss loot revolves around highest damage dealt from a party/players. That even speed hackers have trouble getting loot because so many other players are speed hacking -- that a genuinely good and honest player isn't even CONSIDERED for loot because they have no chance against hackers.
The World bosses are a killer in this game. Certain classes, hackers, veteran players all get an unfair advantage.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
You'd think they would've learned from SE's separate retail/steam FFXIV accounts.. nope.
Imbeciles at Daum (Kakao now), continuing to prove their absolute ineptitude.
Its steam who dont allow them to do that. By releasing on Steam, they're required to give Steam a cut of their revenue from Steam BDO accounts, and that includes in game purchases. As such all steam created BDO accounts are required to buy cash shop credits thru steam and thus giving them a cut of the money.

If I had to go through Steam the game would be dead to me.
I said bye to all my games and uninstalled.
