Many fans on the Grand Theft Auto forum were hoping that a leaked image showing a cowboy hat wearing dude was a teaser for Red Dead Redemption 2. While not from that game, the image comes as great news for MMO fans in the form of Wild West Online, an open world PvP extravaganza being built for PC. Developers of WWO have plans to reveal much, much more about the game in about two weeks when they will bring their project to a $250k KickStarter.

What a great excuse to use "rootin' tootin'" in any type of sentence. My day is made. Now to iHop for a "rooty tooty fresh and fruity" breakfast. :P

On topic, however, I would dearly love a western-themed MMO but not one that is only PvP without any NPC interaction. Wish these guys the best though!

I very much welcome 'Wild West' genres to the industry. I dont to PvP but still, its good to see

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

    Oh looks interesting.

However seems it's still to go to Kickstarter later this month, so this is probably Indies without a publisher having at go at one MMO. O.o

Those bullet points just described another battle royal to me. This time with cowboys.

This early we can just wait and see.

I have consistently suggested Wild West as ripe for an MMORPG in all the polls...
Not sure if THIS is the game... but I'll check it out

No npc's means no RPG at the end of that MMO.

Wild West H1Z1. "Survival themes may be borrowed"

250k KS and 2017 release date? is the game mostly already made? and if so why do they need 250k? smells like another stretch goal cash grab.

Sounds too good to be true. 250k adios. Imho

I would be excited to see a Wild West themed MMO!

Although, lack of PvE combat and servers with "a few hundred players" makes me think of this as being more of a FPS not an MMO.

Thats not the one I am talking about.

This was like a month ago.

They made a thread not about this game but just asking how did people feel about a Wild West MMO.

    Edit, found it.

I would like to see a West World type of MMO but until then this sounds good. Imagine robbing a bank or being part of a posse to catch the dirty robber scum. Bounty Hunter :-)

I think I would enjoy the game but I do want a fleshed out Wild West MMO with themes. . town raids. . forts. . . all that good stuff.  I suppose this might do for some of that.

Looking at the details (no NPCs, small servers), it sounds more like a survival game without the crafting/building elements (or at least, such elements haven't been mentioned yet) than an MMO to me.

This early, I only hear 'blah blah blah western mmo blah blah.'  I'll wait a year or so before I begin to fill in the rest of the sentence.  At this point, I'm glad one is in the works.

I'm quite sure there will be no native Americans to fight, would show really bad taste if they did.

Back in 2010 Tenderfoot Games had a multi-player game going called Wild West Online: Gunfighter that they said was the combat portion of a MMO game they were working on. After a year it shut down and wasn't heard from again. Just wondering if this is what was talked about all that time ago.

Their forums were pretty lively at the time with talk about being able to play a farmer, shopkeeper, saloon owner, card shark, cowboy, gunslinger etc.... , a number of which I see on this new games list.

What was envisioned back then though had more NPC interactions; i.e. you robbed the bank it wouldn't only be the other players after you, but the NPC town's people who's money you just took too. Towns would be a low threat zone with the open plains being much more dangerous.

It'll be interesting to see how this one pan's out.

Article is claiming a 2017 launch date, yet they are still "kicking things around" like a progression system in May.

Man if this game is even remotely close to the multiplayer from Red Dead it will be amazing. My only concern would be getting tired of it fast. Also hope they keep the factions even. Dont want servers to end up 80/20 bandit/defenders or vice versa. So much potential.
