Final Fantasy XIV will be expanding next month with Stormblood. As part of the lead up to the release, Square Enix has published a video featuring the main theme from Stormblood, Revolutions.

A light against the gloom of all those "we've added a new rock this week now give us your kickstarter money" conveyor belt of instantly disposable offerings.
The depth of storytelling, character portrayals, atmospheric audio puts this game in a different league to most of today's mmo's.
It is brilliant.
It would be something I recommend to everyone if they fixed up level 46-49 content (in that they added more) and patch 2.1-2.3 content (Perhaps take away some -- or change it all in such a way that current level 50 content starts at 46 and you can level 47-50 from patch 2.1-2.3) up a bit. Though once someone gets past those portions it's solid and well worth the entry fee. If you aren't the type to shy away from doing a large amount of quests during 2.1-2.3 content and can make it through, then I do recommend it to just about anyone -- especially with the level 35 free trial.
It's a good MMO for many and is constantly showing growth despite it being P2P (even to the point of tripling their budget with Stormblood and adding new Servers in Europe / buying a new data center for NA for future growth), and provides frequent and beefy content and new systems all the time (including but not limited to all the music and story they add with new patches).
It is definitely something I'd recommend to all FF fans if you want to just treat it as a Final Fantasy Game, beat it and Stormblood when it comes out, and then wait until the next expansion or set of patches. Essentially just taking your time and not worrying about getting to the end (there are a lot of systems that open up on the way, too... they're not all at the end!).
It's one of the few games were people complain that there's too much content. It also has a lot of complex systems and features. Many get overwhelmed by specific classes that have "obscene" button rotations and various active requirements to max their damage. We'll see how the new skill and UI changes (each job will be getting their own unique UI at level 60 or so) will help. Though don't expect a 1or 2 button rotation or you'll be overwhelmed by a potential 35+ one with positional conditions, procs, synergy worries, mini-games, etc. for that extra 5-10% dps.
The above can be daunting if you just want to play casually, though that's really only required on the highest end stuff. In addition, it's a bannable offense to use parsers to harass others (in fact, you can't even say you use it in game or you might get a warning; it's a don't ask don't tell policy and FCs only post things in discord to help with their fights).
Monster Hunter since '04!
Currently playing: MHW & MHGU
I feel the same. It's not bad, but Answers, Heavensward and Dragonsong were far superior.
I no longer play FFXIV although I may sub for 2 or 3 months at Stormblood's release but I still buy all the damned soundtracks. I have been to 3 Distant World concerts and every one of them was great. The music sometimes makes the game and in this case I would say that it certainly has helped them
