I think you need to go a bit deeper than the simple "good f2p" what do they like, what's the background, is there a common element, etc.
For example, take LotRO. With the courses (at least on those 2 I was present) we had plenty of totally new players, some are not only new to MMOs but new to gaming as well (ok, maybe except some Solitaire or Minesweeper ), and they've had a great time. Still, it can't be a general example, because in their cases the common element was that all course mates love LotR, and also they were curious to check it remediated on a new (to them) medium.
If there's no shared lore connection, you can take the gameplay approach too, like a Borderlands addict buddy of mine really liked Defiance (at least for one playthrough ), or a GTA fan played a lot of APB (but then switched to GTA Online I think).
