'Shared-World RPG' Launches for the Masses with New Trailer - Secret World Legends News
Funcom has announced that Secret World Legends has officially launched worldwide for PC users. It is a fully F2P game with an in-game item shop that is a
I am having a blast too. I know some people hate it but I am glad they got rid of the skill wheel. I found it confusing and why I quit playing the original game. I played as far back as the closed beta for the original TSW and loved the game concept and story but ultimately quit over the skill wheel.
They really did a great job. Loving the game now. Exploiters forced a shutdown after just 2 days after launch. I really hate cheats like this. Should have name shamed them along with ban.
Tried the game but just like the original release I couldn't get into it. The new tutorial area and class style system is something I really liked as they are a lot better at helping new players.
For me combat still doesn't feel or look right and although the new combat system is an improvement the animations lack oommpphh, which reminds me of ESO combat as the animations for that felt similar. The animations in general need work especially during cut scenes which is evident on the first scene when entering London as a Templar. When the woman is talking to you it looks like her bottom jaw has been dislocated and looks really bad.
Add onto that the game still has optimization issue's which are still evident when running around the London hub area and the monetization method of being able to buy AP all put me off the game.
who liked TSW has to like SWL , who hate TSW cant like SWL too
It is same game with minor changes ,but SWL is F2P than not need complain.Simple try it,if liked keep playing ,if not move out !
Fun game, terrible subscription rewards. Their monetization of the game had TERRIBLE decisions behind it.
There's good monetization, then there's SWTOR level monetization.
It's treading the line of SWTOR.
The monetization is far far worse in SWL than in SWTOR!
Especially when subbed to SWTOR, you have no more limits and in SWTOR you can actually get good gear and easily upgrade your character. Be it via merchants or through crafting.
In SWL! Pretty much everything is locked behind lockboxes! Hell, even running dungeons is pointless with current loot table (or rather lack of). /shrug
I personally think they went way overboard with Monetization in SWL in typical Funcom fashion!
If they don't address this really really soon, they won't have many players anymore after a month.
People will get bored and fed up really quick, if all they are getting is lock boxes and green crap as loot.

Completely wrong.... I am not a patron and I already by level 23 have 2 pieces of MkIII gear that are ranked up to +25, the rest of my gear is 1 MkII piece at +20 and 2 MkI pieces at +20.... All this from F2P doing quests and dungeons without spending a dime..... It's really not that hard. You just have to get lucky on drops from the loot boxes you get when completing quests. That or you can always buy anything you need off of the AH once they re-enable it. They only took it down momentarily while they internally test the fix for the exploit that people got banned for. If you're going to talk down on a game at least make sure that what you're saying is accurate.....
This game is doing great so far, yes they do want you to buy cache key's but they actually stated that they increased the drop rate of cache's from mobs because they can be sold for 50 currency each. SO therefore if you get a lot of cache's stacked up in your inventory you get to sell them to vendors for a good amount of in game currency, if you would rather you can buy key's to open a few of them. If you sub you get one free key per day. You can save those up and open up 30 cache's at the end of the month or open on per day if you like.
It's really up to you, but everything can be achieved without paying a dime other than the final tier of Sprint. Even then once they re-enable the currency exchange you will be able to trade in game currency for cash currency in order to get your final tier of Sprint as well. Cash currency will be available for all to trade in game currency for once the fix is in place. This alone shuts down all of the P2W gripes that people are trying to throw out there. If they wanted it to be P2W they would have made it so that you can't trade in game currency for cash currency without spending actual money.
For me has been like 2 step forward, 2 step back. Like the way weapons behave differently, and some of the improved animations, the all free content. Don't like the progress removed for a game that only got some tweaks, and the apparent removal of the faction job class uniforms. My guess, will come back as purchasable items.
Still undecided on the skill interface. Maybe easier to beginners, but now respect are behind a pay wall.
I have a few faction items like the varsity jacket, but I think those were reward items/cash shop items, I can't really remember. But a lot of the Faction uniforms can be regained as you progress. And I think your right, I have a feeling a lot of the Job Class outfits will find their way into the cash shop.
The one grip I really have is the fact that forming a Cabal as well as access to the Cabal Bank and Trading is locked behind the patron wall. I can maybe see forming a Cabal...but access to the "Guild Bank" that's just lame.
Really want to start playing already as I never played the original. But I can't seem to be able to. I can login at funcom webpage just fine, but can't on the TSWL site to download the game, using the same credentials, and when I try to make a new account there it tells me the username already exists.
So guess I'll be waiting for Steam release.
I checked it out yesterday and they really have improved on the original game significantly however as someone who played through all the TSW content I'm just not sure I want or have the will to play through it all again.
I am having a blast too. I know some people hate it but I am glad they got rid of the skill wheel. I found it confusing and why I quit playing the original game. Does this mean they went the WoW route of removing character customization or did they substitute in some other form?
Worst F2P model Ive seen in a F2P MMO in years everything is behind a pay wall if you sub its still behind the paywall so no point in subbing!
End game gear is in chests that are RNG and require keys to open and have the worst chance rate I've seen in an MMO think PWE/Startrek Online but with a much much lower chance of getting anything from the chest!
Some people in the community have done some early math to try and work out the RNG rate (China requires MMO to publish the drop rate why cant the west do this!) But if you spend $5000 you will be able to get a full set of end game gear! yes its really that bad! even if you compare it to other games that use boxes/crates they tend to guarantee a certain amount of items per box in SWL you get 1 item per crate.
The game has lots to offer but is being let done by its terrible f2p model and I cannot recommend it to anyone due to this as end game gear should never be behind a pay wall!
Also to the person who says swtors f2p is bad you really need to look at games like SWL and ArchAge or Black Desert before you say swtor is the worst... Swtors sub removes all limits and gives you 500 coins for their market per month and access to all the dlc its f2p model can have its most of its limits removed from buying $5 of coins which removes some of the limits forever their chance cubes have a guaranteed drop of 5 items and 2 of which are now guaranteed to be gold and silver rarity this change was made due community feedback the first time Ive seen a company make a big change to its boxes/crate system most companies don't care.

some minor things such as not giving players the ability to save gear sets using a GUI interface and only text commands is a bit of a pest.
Needs more cosmetic options too.
And Unlimited customization should be included as a premium member except for DLC such as clothes and stuff but general body edits should be free.
