I only played it when it first launched, or around. Was a buggy mess and I could barely play, and was turned off pretty quickly. Always sad to hear another game is shutting down, though. Well, mostly.
The hilarious part is observing the white knights still trying to fight the "good fight" here and on their ghost town forums. The game started off as a great idea but bluff after bluff got called and each iteration was a back pedal and compromise.
Firefall did everything that Star Citizen and Funcom are doing now (the bad things).
In memoriam.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"

"Mistakes where made"... I doubt anyone (even we "White Knights"... ^^) would disagree with that.
But thats the nature of the game design *business*. They made what seemed to be good decisions at the start (like the engine), which later turned out to be mistakes.
As for the bus and video studio, taken in context both made some sense at the time. But due to poor execution turned out to be less than wise.
Game wise, given the personal dynamics involved, things could and should have been handled better.
But again, thats water under the bridge.
I'm personally willing to give him another chance. Thats why I contributed to the new games funding.
Anyone who had fun in Firefalls first few years, might well be interested in the new game. At this point, only time will tell the tale of how it turns out. But if he can get the design and coding worked out, it looks like it will be a *great* deal of fun.

Mate, Mark Kern had nothing to do with that bus, it was N9 from China that commissioned it and the PIMP MY RIDE group that over did it so much it couldn't move. Get you damn facts right before you bullshit people.
Wasn't a bad game back when it very first opened to players (Beta etc) & for me personally I stopped playing some time ago when they had made some really bad changes to the game that took away the entertainment value of playing (for me).
Now I must say this has come as a bit of a shock (Haven't been keeping up with the game anyways) I am not so sure creating a mobile version is going to save too many jobs or the game & it is nearly always a shame when a game like this goes down in flames because the developers didn't want to listen to the player base.
So Farewell FF may you go to that big server in the sky & be remembered for the beginning rather than what brought the end :-P

Had they followed their original goal of making it an e-sports centric title, I think it could have blown up, but instead, Overwatch did.
They literally went from making Overwatch to a worse version of WoW over the years, and it's a shame, but you can't see into the future I suppose.
RIP.
