I have been trying my hardest to crack the leaderboard on Diablo 3 for the challenge rifts, and I have no clue how people do them so fast, I finish like 2 mins behind the best, and I feel like I am flying thru them nonstop and mashing buttons like mad
For years many groups--whom are at the top of the eSport scene--tried to get sponsors interested in WoW PvE oriended events. Since watching these kinda events is almost as boring as watching pain dry and a billion studies showed not many care to watch them, besides the 3 failed ones, they didn't happen.
Maybe this event would change that, I doubt it. But whoever suggested this must be either a very glass half full person, or completely unaware of gaming history.
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women...
When I thought it could not get any worse...
I am sure it would be successful in the short term but in my opinion in the long term it will sink WoW even lower.
Another reason to stay away from this mess.
I wonder whether people will get to see all the (usually mandatory) add-ons used? Or will add-ons be banned?
Now THAT would be an interesting competition showing off true dungeoneering skill, not just the usual twitch skill fare...
Awwww hell no!!! With the amount of prep that goes into high level raiding, there would be exactly zero people who completed a brand new raid. That being said, I was wondering how you could possibly fit something like this into a half hour or hour long TV show and couldn't think of a way to do it. If you gave them 3 attempts at fresh content, then maybe you could!
Personally, I wouldn't mind watching speed runs of dungeons or raids. 4-groups running at once, heads-up. Could be interesting. More interesting than golf for SURE!!!

Let's turn WoW into the PvE version of Overwatch, that's clearly the direction WoW should take.
Give me strength....
I dont think anyone here are against more then most of us do know that Blizzard is/always/are caring more about hardcore player/guild and is always only listen to those player i mean how big of chance do a normal gamer have play in those event how big chance is that???
Not where big if you dont spend alot of time in WoW so yeah this is just for hardcore and honest how about blizzard come with some original idea to save their game yes i say it save there game.
For the always copie other game company idea as you say GW2 have done this for years and yes blizzard is losing/lost alot of player the last few years so need to come up with way to get more player back.
Just look a ESO after the drop Morrowind expansion and One Tamrielthe there game have become alot more alive with more active player last few months i honest think more people a look to start play other MMORPG out there for tell the true WoW gfx engine is very very old now it is time for them start make newer WoW.
It seems like getting viewers on Twitch is more important to them now than keeping players in their games. Sometimes I think maybe they have reached the limit with their WoW engine and can't add any more so the only thing left to do is try to push e-sports with what they have.
You mean make money? Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're interested in doing that.
The average Blizzard employee generates the company $250,000 per year. So to assign a 10 person team to Vanilla servers, you're looking at a revenue hit of $2.5 million. That works out to about 170,000 subscribers. PLUS, you take a hit to your other brand. So they obviously don't think that the value is there. I know people want to say that there are like over a million people playing private servers, but how many are paying? How many would pay to come back to Blizz?
Finally, Blizzard owns MLG, and are setting up to actually push for more main stream e-sports. So I don't know why it's surprising that WoW would be part of this. I wouldn't be surprised to see WoW PVP as well. Blizzard doesn't tend to leave money on the table, so of course they're doing all they can to promote e-sports.
