It’s been one week since Albion Online launched, and how’s it doing so far? Pretty smoothly… no really there’s been very few issues. This is our Review in Progress of Sandbox’s new MMORPG.

The game is really good. There have been issues, but now it is almost ok. There are still queues, especially when American players log in. The only annoying thing is the daily maintenance, but this affects mainly European players.

Boring game with boring combat, i can't understand the hype (do they connect bots themselves in towns to make it look like it's populated? because they don't seems to be very active)

The maps are boring, and while I don't think it is a bad game, the games graphics are pretty much kill any desire for me to want to continue to play this. I think MMO vets are just starved for anything sandbox, that is why there is huge hype for this game.

I probably shouldn't comment on this game cause its target audience are full loot PvP players, a gamestyle I don't really enjoy. But even if it weren't, the camera view and very limited view of the world would have turned me off anyway. It feels very claustrophobic.
Other issues for me are: very very grindy, simplistic PvE and combat.
Still nice to see a new mmo coming out anyway. Just not my cup of tea. ;)

Graphics are always a potential sticking point for ppl, no matter the game. However, the graphics on Albion are definitely a love or hate'em type. Luckily, I love'em, so woot!!

Some other games are saying their cash shops are not p2w because you can lose the stuff you bought. So your founders stuff can drop and somebody else can pick it up and use it. Does that mean you can transfer gear that way or can you just do a simple trade? Any bot problems?

    Fun fun fun.

    And that's all that counts.

I want to keep playing. Got to Tier III but it is such a boring combat system that is rewarded by the grindiest feeling upgrade system in any game I've ever played. Have fun if you enjoy the churn. I'll keep playing EVE for my sandbox fix.

I like founders items drops on death.

    It's healthy for the community.

The same way driving a shiny ship on EvE put you on risk just because it has faction things. The same way people on Salem would hunt cashers to steal premium scarecrows and dried rose petals.

That's when it stops being p2w to me, when you can lose it.

That definitely a fair point :)

For those of you enjoying it, can you say why? I'm only asking because I've put about 10 hours into it and I'm not really sure where the fun is. There doesn't seem to be a lot of meat on the bone.

It'll be interesting to see if the honeymoon period lasts or not as both time and the playerbase's progression towards the end game marches on.

With low level areas over populated right now, I often wonder how many will stick around once PVP zones become a requirement.

Just because you lose your gear on death does not make it not P2W. You lose your gear and the whale player can just buy the gear with converted silver (from gold bought with real money) then go back out and continue to fight and potentially get their gear back. The non-whale player now might have to craft/grind for that gear and they can potentially just exhaust their mats, while the whale just trollops along and can keep playing. Thus the whale has already won.

For example say Whale and Fish are the best 2 players in the game. Both players can gear up with the highest tier. Whale just goes and buys everything using his credit card. Fish has to work up and had a bad week and only can play in T6 gear and has one more set in the bank. Whale is rocking T8 , while he also had a bad week and lost several sets of T8 armor but he doesn't care because he just buys more with his credit card.

Whale and Fish meet out on the battlefield. Both players are even as far as skills but Whale pulls ahead because he has the gear advantage.

This is the only P2W aspects I see of the game.

Only those cut out for this type of game...thankfully.

Most of the whining will go with them.

I'm enjoying it a lot as well, but when you talk about it being a "smooth launch" I keep thinking you're talking about a different game. "Rough launch" more accurately describes what's happened. There are regular server outages (two or three a day from what I can tell) and more than a few people who have small windows of time where they can play that have barely been able to play the game at all in a week's time; their forum posts can be read on Albion Online's forums.

I think they meant comparatively to other MMOs this was a smooth start and I agree this didn't have too many problems compared to other MMOs day one.
