What lol?
Anyway looks good and seems like a nice thing to try out if you're on the fence on pre-ordering.
So for me, i wont buy it. Maybe GW3 has a chance.
The mount movement so far seems fluid and natural.
The night time in the crystal desert is pretty awesome.
Chef game and Casino game are fun new mechanics.
They added a lot more of the community mini games. It seems like the focus so far with this expansion is to get the community playing the game together, rather than solo play. There seems to be lots of open world content and events popping off with decent rewards. You can get in, play for 5 min and jump out in most of what they have shown far.
On one hand, ANet have given every other game designer a masterclass in how to do mounts.
On the other hand, I just want to pick up a quest and have some sort of direction! I arrived in the new zone and it was just like.. oh, this again. Very little context for what you are doing. Chaos everywhere because no one has any direction other than fill in the map markers. How many of you started off by jumping around trying to interact with the bounty board? There was a hell of a lot of us...
5 hours of playing and I have absolutely nothing to show for it, other than the mount of course. No meaningful loot (literally nothing except salvageable stuff and crafting stuff and that's all you will ever get in this game once you have exotics for your build).. no memorable story line.. I achieved nothing and I did the same thing you do in every map. I just.. don't see the point anymore?
Man, if this game stopped trying to be different in the context and loot design it would be so much better.
I wanted to love it but sadly I don't. I think I might finally buy FFXIV instead of this. I've played enough GW2 now.
It is intentionally this way. They have turned off the story (other than the first couple of minutes) to not spoil anything. The point is to run around and get a feel for the new map design and mount.
Other than, I guess ''what is the point of GW2?'' has always been a thing. You don't have clear goals to achieve hence getting the feeling that you are just running around aimlessly. PoF isn't going to change that.
As a person who enjoys GW2 and plays the game on and off, GW2 has always been about finding things that I find fun to do. It is a game that is centered around making goals for yourself... maybe you want to work towards a legendary weapon, a nice skin that you have always wanted or an achievement that you haven't gotten yet. Instead of the intrigue of actually finding a legendary item out in the world - or in a dungeon or raid -, GW2 is all about check-lists. ''I want this item so I am gonna work for it playing the game mode that enjoy''.
It is a different kind of experience. You lose the intrigue of progression that is usually the most important part of MMORPGs and instead get freedom instead of it. The freedom to work towards your own goals in the game, goals that you usually create for yourself.
This has always been - in my opinion - the game's biggest strength but also weakness. While some might enjoy the freedom the GW2 gives you in the playing the game the way you want. Others will find it bothersome that the game seems shallow since... technically, progression isn't there. You don't grow in power. If you already have ascended gear, you have already - pretty much - completed the game and all you work for is skins and fluff.
Clicking them, you can make beta characters to play.
..Cake..
..Cake..
Next weekend is the new specializations demo iirc.
..Cake..
They aren't going to spoil the story in a demo now are they?
They're also doing at least one more demo event so that you get to experience more of the content in the expansion.
They're not going to be able to cover all new content in a demo, neither should they.
..Cake..
The reason they did what they did is because you wont get the story and similar things, that will be purged. I assume that would mess up things if they allowed us to use regular chars.
It is possible that they let people have access to the expansion a weekend to boost sales, No one mentioned an event like that yet but it still is possible.
U have slots for Demo heroes , u get tons of loot = equipment , food , runes , sigils
I have 0% need for my old heroes in demo mod.
1) They need a way to allow new players to experience this endgame content without permanently affecting their accounts.
2) They need to ensure that all players are similarly geared for testing content balance.
3) They need a way to ensure that the demo will not directly impact the game's economy.
4) They want permanent unlocks of expansion rewards to occur with the expansion, not beforehand. This is important in order to preserve the expansion's early experience.
5) It's far easier and more practical to make a secondary demo account status than it would be to roll back all mastery unlocks, skin unlocks, and other rewards that are not intended to be obtained before the release of the expansion.
Gw2 still is a fantastic and fun to play game !
