You play games for what they are and not what you wish them to become.
Adapt or perish.
My assessment was that this game was still in the process of being created. It certainly is far from finished. In that state I would hope the developers would be open to input from potential consumers.
Am I wrong? Is this not a place for the free exchange of ideas ? Is it not the responsibility of DEVELOPERS to decide the direction of their game ? Why is you opinion on what should not be considered more valid than mine suggesting another direction ?

A mistake often made is thinking all opinions are equally valid.
While not finished LIF is well down the delivery road so significant design changes really should not be considered at this time.
Your suggestion is sort of like when people ask CCP to create a PVE server for EVE because of all of the "potential" customers it might bring.
Maybe the LIF forums are a place for a free exchange of ideas, this one is more for pointing out to other people why they are wrong.

Guilds can form Kingdoms. You can custom make your own factions.
That sounds kinda cool.
Yeah it does... in theory. Has that ever worked anywhere other than sort of in Eve?
I rather have hard-coded factions as in DAoC than the possibility of faction-like alliances that may last a week or two.

Depends on what you mean by 'has it worked'. It's not something that can fail, it just is. That said, most games do not provide players with the tools to do much with in-game kingdoms. For the most part it has been pretty basic chat rooms with a few ranks and a treasury. Whatever the players does is added on top of the game that has little impact. In essence it has not differed much from 'guilds' in faction-based mmos. To make player formed kingdoms/factions something of value the devs need to give players the tools to actually organise the rpg elements in the game.

Survey is missing a key stat, that it was likely completed by 237 respondents.
Results are as I would have expected though, appeals strongly to it's niche.
