Have you ever argued with a household cat over spilling the milk bowl.... You know the cat is wrong, it's a fact, but trying to get your point across is impossible no matter how you phrase it.
In the topic here "why mmos are dying" and out of 186 replies, and 4.6K viewers, MANY are saying the same thing using different words to express the EXACT SAME THING.
Infact I would say the right answer is the POPULAR answer. But its spread among at least 25 other wrong answers.
If someone were to use percentages like "I feel 33% here agree with me", the population would focus on where you got 33% from ?....... Knowing full well no one can figure the percentage, but to undermine you.
Even in this reply where I stated "25 wrong answers"...... This in itself gives the argument power to undermine. We basically have a back door to twist anything around:
- using percentages would get you killed.
- stating it's a fact would get you killed.
- using I believe would get you killed.
- bad spelling will get you killed (me).
- the way you phrase your topic will get you killed (me).
- the most popular....people here will kill you just to have fun.
- the other most popular. Around ten hardcore posters control ALL TOPICS.
- another more popular. People often argue just because they like to win. They my not even care !
This topic was inspired by seeing the RIGHT answer many times in the topic "why mmos are dying". I'm actually afraid to say what that right answer is because it would open up the back door for argument !!!
The Pub is truly worthless..... I stick to sub topics, but even still the same ten follow.

Rare is the day when there is only a single correct answer or even cause for a complex question.
Rather there are multiple variables, some known and well understood and others not so much.
Its been my observation you often are on the ill informed side and therefore are frequently drawing wrong conclusions more often than not. Therefore from my view, you are the cat.
But hey, I could be wrong, I am a cat after all.

When you don't want the truth, you will make up your own truth.
I actually think these forums are pretty good in terms of trolling / civility. There are only one or two active trolls and then a few ignorant, stubborn and vocal posters that we have to worry about, granted they do manage to derail most threads but if we learn to ignore them (I don't always manage that myself....) then we'll be fine.
The bigger issue is just a lack of things to discuss. Whenever there is a dearth of things to discuss from the industry, it is only natural that these boards would begin to decline and turn into petty arguments. If there is no content to consume externally, we begin to consume ourselves.
Since the thread itself is full of post's from people expressing personal opinion's, there can be no right or wrong answer, only different view point's.
A creative person is motivated by the desire to achieve, not the desire to beat others.
If there were a panel of successful leading MMO industry experts, I don't think they would all agree on one answer.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

There is no "right" and "wrong" answer to the question.
There is only a wide variety of opinions, many of which will vary considerably.
Clearly you have unbalanced expectations. Of course, if you want to bring that type of scrutiny to bear you might want to turn that microscope on your own posts. I mean, hold yourself to the same level of quality that you want others to aspire to.
Your assertion that there is a "right" answer assumes that you weren't looking for a discussion but a soap box where you could get a pat on the back.

Speak (or write) clearly and concisely, use fact to back up your statements, or if it is simply your opinion, state such. I strongly recommend taking a college level writing class or business class, where you are required write a lot and cite all your work. I did this ( actually I am doing it right now and have been for the last 4 semesters) and what I have discovered is; it's very easy to become irrelevant if you can't make a valid point backed up by facts. It is also very easy to do some research and qualify your assertions.
Instead of being thin skinned and taking everything as a personal attack, do your homework, know what you are talking about and present a valid argument.
As @Kyleran said, you are usually on the less informed side of the discussion at hand. You approach these discussions with passion, I give you that, but seldom any type of relevant or quantifiable fact.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

What I find is that when people disagree about the same thing, it usually comes down to what parameters a person values more. Person A values a different set of parameters more than another.
For example, in the American debate over abortion, it is how a person values the parameters that decides the position. Is it freedom of choice or the value of a fetus that is more important? etc, etc.
