In the original game of the franchise, Guild Wars 1, players could only take on the role of the Humans. It’s sequel, however, flag shipped the ability to play as many of Tyria’s races, and came with a story that impacted not just humanity, but the world itself. In the last few story episodes- and indeed in the upcoming Path of Fire expansion- Guild Wars 2 has slowly been sliding back in to a human centric story, pushing the other races to the side.

Anet made a mistake pulling away from a human centric story. The charr are the biggest offenders of this as they went from a barbarian style enemy in the first game to the mary sue race in the second one. Hopefully anet continues its focus on humans through PoF and into Cantha in the next expansion. Thats what everyone i know wants, and they have hated the story in the game through HoT. I would rather the game succeed than to try to push race diversity just because "they want it" and continue to fail in story. People loved where Anet started with story in gw1.

You mean destroying everything left of human lore.

    I actually prefer the diversity.

They have ignored humanity since launch, until now. I think that attention needs to be paid to all races, and diversity is important, but a lot of what drew me into the franchise to begin with was GW1, which was human-centric, the different cultures of humanity, and the deep lore accompanied with it. A lot of players have been complaining about them pulling away from the human-centric story arcs for a long time, and I think that's why they went with Elona in this expansion. It's fine to introduce the new races, and have content that develops their stories, but it's unwise to abandon the source, and original focus of the series and world. The Sylvari arc that just concluded was not even remotely as good, or engaging as the story in GW1, and I was definitely hoping it would be, because I think they could have made the Sylvari a more compelling race, but they haven't. Path of Fire is already off to a much better, and more interesting start with the potential return of the gods, and the plight of the Elonian people under Palawo Joko. These are the things that make the Guild Wars story, and lore so good for most players coming from the first game. I think an interesting plot to delve into, would be that of post-treaty relations between the Charr and Humanity. Right now everything seems so unified and hunky dory, almost too much so, considering the Charr are ultimately responsible for the total destruction of two human Kingdoms that they had no business waging war on, other than for the sake of war, which has lead humanity to be in such a wobbly place now, I know it's been a bit over two centuries, but the treaty only recently established 4-5 years ago, so there's no way the resentment humanity would feel towards them would just vanish. The introduction of Elonian's back into the fray could definitely help to turn the tide of humanity's decline, depending on where they go with the story. I'm definitely happy with the direction they've taken, getting back to the franchises roots. It's the first time I've been excited about GW2 in a very long time, and it's the same for many in my long-time gaming group.

Every time Goonsquad/SA/DS post salt on Star Citizen, I spend more money on it. Every time a mentally disturbed former backer or Elite CMDR toxic emo comments, I spend more money on it. Every time they refuse to answer why they spend so much time arguing about a game they don't even like, I spend more money on it. Want to watch the world burn because you can't have your way? You got whats coming to you.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind a Charr Vs human PvP scenario...

Anyways, I don't mind the human focus since it makes the story closer to GW1. I would like an eventual expansion or story season with a bit of Norn focus though, I feel they have gotten the least of all the races so far.

Agreed to both points. Human vs Charr and Sylvari vs Asura make just so much sense that it's a surprise that there isn't any tangible conflict. But such scenarios may easily turn into total mess. Still makes more sense than WvWvW.
And Norns are totally left behind to the point that I don't wanna play them because see them as mere cave people. :D

I was thinking something smaller scaled then WvW, something like 24 Vs 24.  The only option for WvW would be Tyria Vs Cantha  Vs Elona and you need far more content for that to work (cantha as a start and full levelrange of Elona zones).
