Fortnite is one of those games where you can clearly see its potential for greatness, but for reasons we’ll likely never know, it hasn’t been able to really find its footing in development. The core gameplay is really fun, but the game struggles from identity issues, resulting in a muddled overall experience. Unfortunately, the latest announcement from Epic Games truly crystalizes that lack of focus.

Sure a different team worked on BR, but the core game still needs a lot of lovin!
A simple example: afk-ers, griefers and chat ragers have been roaming free since the start. Now they want to hammer down on all who break the BR code. Why haven't we seen this hammer in action in the core game?
Adding a PvP BR to a pure PvE game like Fortnite will at best end the same way as H1Z1 did. The BR part might be somehow successful and get further development. The PvE side dies. The BR side will die as soon as the BR crowd moves on to the next hyped BR game, or earlier in case it isn't successful at all.
To me the PvE part just looked overloaded with micro transactions, chests and what not everywhere and right into your face. To much attention seeking stuff going on there. And the actual gameplay itself was very repetitive.
I think it needs more focus, things to be added like Squads, a much better integration with the building and trap mechanics under the PvP nature should improve how it flows.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy.
