It's always fun to see celebrities taking on some of the games that we all play. Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik took to the airwaves last night to give Elder Scrolls Online a try in her new video series called "Mayim Tries". This first video in a series sees her run through character creation and ends right as she'd head into the tutorial.

That's a universal truth for us all.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - Douglas Adams

oh, they weren't that jarring.
This reminds me of when I show my friends how to make characters in video games.

The Conan videos are "about" Conan, the video game straight man and some guy who knows a lot of about video games.
In this presentation it's more of a tech guy to answer questions.
Thoughhhhhhh ... Is there an issue with her being SAG and working with a non SAG person on a video? More to the point not paying that person union scale. I don't think SAG actors are supposed to work with non-SAG people unless the non-SAG person is getting paid a SAG rate.
Just a thought.

...ok to proceed? as in she doesn't have the intelligence to "proceed" in a character creation of a game that is made to be played by kids? what are you suggesting here? ...and besides, that's the only fun part. watching someone fumbling and struggling to figure new things out.
no, it is banter, and she talks to him a lot. i'm just saying, the whole skit is set up as just her in front of PC (like your average gamer) trying things out....except that she is not alone, and keeps getting nudged forward by some random people that are not there playing other games, but very purposely there to ...what? record? direct? produce the video? . ....just feels weird to me.
nothing wrong with having a sidekick to banter with, but bantering with the camera man, or the lights guy just enhances the fact that you are on a set, pretending, not alone playing a new game.....which is how the skit started.
it just feels that she didn't really know what she wanted to do with this video. solo gamer playing new game, or movie star on set playing a game, or chill out Hollywood girl with home movie crew pretending to be a nerd.... just pick one.
it's not a bad skit. it has funny parts. she is relatable, and very likable. its just odd how they decided to have hand holding by invisible crew guy.
Personally this is just a production value ordeal out to get some hits/money.I would have expected her to just use her own vid cam and do it from the heart and not have someone there with a full producers lens and editing this several times.
You don't edit stuff like this unless it is merely a business proposition which it is.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Apparently she hasn't played many MMOs.
Also she didn't really get into the game much. I didn't see her get out her credit card once.

Well, first of all video games aren't just "made for kids". I think you are pretty much damning the genre if you are saying that. And if you are that's great, maybe it does need to be "damned" and grow up a bit. Too many man/boys - woman/girls that make people think it's a hobby for losers.
I think it's ok for a person, no matter how intelligent they are to stop and take in "ok to proceed". I mean, if she is actually a "gamer" then yeah, I'll give you your point. But I don't think she is. What really does that mean to a person who isn't used to gaming? I mean, is it "ok to proceed"? Maybe she was wondering if there was something else she needed to do before "proceeding".
Heck, I had to laugh at the first character creation screen as looking at it from someone who didn't know anything about the game it's really confusing. Alliance? What the heck does that mean to someone who just booted the game up.
In truth I got that it was a somewhat overwhelming experience. Having had a few friends "make characters" in these things it's pretty much par for the course.
An overwhelming experience is an overwhelming experience. I've even missed some character creation details in certain games because of how the interface was set up.
Not everyone is a "gamer" or even cares. I suppose that's the whole thrust of the thing, sort of like the "Conan" series. I've met more people like that than people who like video games.
