Sorry, but it's Asian, so gender locks and every male char looks like an anime firgure and every female like a pornstar, cries and shouts included. Unbelievable -not in a good way- animations, excessive should pieces, weaponry not even The Mountain could lift, ...

Nope, I tried many of them and felt like I wasted both time and money on all of them.

It'll be ruined by a payment model that alienates most people so it will never reach it's full potential.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I could see myself playing this but that is only if gender lock disappears. That is usually the one condition that can stop me from experiencing a game. **Edit** Read more of the comments, looks like gender locking won't be a thing. I'm in.

Which Korean MMORPG has made a significant impact on Western audiences recently?
    I can't recall any.

And I doubt this one will be it. The majority Western audience isn't interested in the South Korean playstyle of MMO. Grindy, over-the-top Anime style, Cash Shop; Juvenile writing, characters and storylines.

I like the premise of air battles, but the game mechanics that will most likely be wrapped around that doesn't interest me.

Nope. I jumped out of the hype boat as soon as i noticed the gender lock. If they can't even have this basic thing in character management i don't wanna know the rest.

Seriously, gender-locking classes is just lazy development.  They need to do the extra work and allow people to make the character they want.

Are the classes of A:IR gender locked?

Bluehole is planning to add both genders to each class.

source for most of the posters issues, including an answer for lag in the trailer can be found here: https://forum.airthegame.com/index.php?threads/the-a-ir-teaser-faq-is-live.43/

as i was posting this i did not see someone else posted it already lol

I don't like gender locking, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I totally get why it can be for some, though. Hopefully they learn from BDO.

It's not a deal breaker for me either but a shitty cash shop will be. Any word on that front?

Agreed! The game looks promising but what about the business model?

Asians are not able to make a good mmorpg.
They are awesome on visuals and techstuff, but look at what came there when we all played ArcheAge. It was the savior of all our mmorpg dreams but we got betraied by % modifiers and p2w shit, lootboxes and stupid "burn your money" mechanics. No, ill never play those Asian stuff again ..

Jet packs, mini-gun, flying sailboats, dragons, magic, mech robots...

Mixing too much stuff imo... I'll pass.

You basically described Wow. It's doing just fine.

The thing is - in WoW - all of those things actually mesh stylistically - and due to highly stylized art and excellent Blizzard art team - they pull it off well.

In contrast - again in my opinion - in this game - it's lacking cohesion, it looks like a bunch of disparate concepts thrown together.
I won't argue that.  But both games have these elements.  That's all I meant to say.

I consider neither Bluehole nor Kakao to be "AAA", so no.

Well people can say - "I don't consider the Sun to be a star" - but they'd be wrong.

Just because you don't consider them to be AAA - doesn't change the fact that they ARE AAA studios - Both TERA and BDO are AAA games.

If TERA and BDO are examples of modern "AAA" games, then this genre is indeed fucked beyond repair. Being the shiniest turds in the bowl doesn't make them "AAA", it just makes them shiny turds.
Your opinion still doesn't change the fact that they are AAA.  @DMKano is right, whether you agree or not.

It's really sad that all these MMORPGs have, at best, binary gender choices. I want a slider!

Game doesn’t look good. Just a bunch of flashy stuff in a trailer like Destiny but no soul, substance or fun.

    So, like Destiny.

This is awesome, but I think you'd need a Thai dev for that one to work! ;)

I'll believe it when I see it. Lately game companies make all kinds of claims then the game doesn't resemble anything they said it would after it's released.

You pitch your gender-slider plan. Thailand is investing a lot on IT, many companies are moving there. There wouldn't be long till we start seeing Thai games. now is the time brother. Go for it! :grimace:

For me I see a company in Enmasse that sold a game all about a vanarach system that involved amazing pvp. The pvpers loved it, the pvers didn't mind it, but some pvpers exploited the system. We as pvpers made complaints and instead of them fixing it, they scrapped the entire pvp system they sold us on for years and totally changed the concept of the game. Then I see a publisher in Kakou that had a great game for pvers and pvpers and no one was complaining about the pvp or pve systems, then they brought in the stream crowd and instantly destroyed our pvp because that was their new money. With that said, the game looks great, but I don't trust either of these companies. Both companies in Tera/BDO have had major issues with lag and desync, just don't trust them at all. The game does still look good, but idk..if they have a solid enough pvp system and have limited to no channels, make pve and pvp servers and sell me on that, I may give it a shot.

Is it that difficult to post a link to the trailer the article mentions? (am I not seeing it somewhere in this article, scanned it 5 times and see no links whatsoever) Did you have an announcement post here as well for it? Why not link to that? Content marketing 101

They lost me soon as it was mentioned that it was an Asian MMO. I don't like the Asian grind, oversized weapons, male characters that look like they are professional crossdressers, cash shop, progression locks that must be unlocked by PvP or cash and the overly "cutesy" air hovering over the entire game.

I liked the steam-punk vibe but that is about it.

Why in the heck would you use Unreal 3 to make a new game today?  I have yet to play a good Korean MMO, I have great doubts this will be any better than the rest.

it looks awesome , however im afraid is gonna be like AA , or BDO.

too much focus on airship battles and whatnot , ppl are cool with that at the beginning but later on every1 prefer to play the class they choosed instead of a ship/robot/ with 2 skills.

Nothing out of asia will reignite mmorpg development. At least I have seen no indicators of a change from that shallow flashy style of games, and this one continues on that path.. A bucket full of gimmicks with no substance if I ever saw one.
