ok let me explain sry for my bad english in the first post , atleast 3 millions of the 7 millions that plays this game maybe even more , is underage and dont have access to a credit card and their parants wont lend them a credit card , so instead of begging ur mom or dad to death u can instead buy a game time card ( pre paid card) in the nearest game shop and it dont cost alot more then it would do if u used your credit card instead.
and wow is the only mmorpg thats sells prepaid cards for a mmorpg in a shop , not a internet shop , and i have played atleast a 30 mmorpgs in total and never seen prepaid cards in store before , and thats one of the big sources of the big population , becuse prepaid makes so the underage ppl can play and ppl that dont want to give a company credit card information.
does it make sence now ?
i promise you all if the next big hit lets say for instance warhammer online do the same with prepaid cards like wow did they gona have atleast 500 thousand more players then they would have if they jsut used credit card paying .

Makes much more sense now . Not sure if I agree totally, although I do know it helps substantially.
It has nothing to do with time cards, it is simply that WOW was the first MMORPG available in shops on the high street in countries outside North America.
It's not a better game but it was far better marketed.
The community isn't any more immature than any other community. This is a numbers issue. Say you have 200 people and 2 of them are jerks. We have a room that holds 20,000 people in this example as well. Now, we stick these 200 people in the room. The 2 jerks will make minimal noise, while the 198 people converse pleasantly. Even if the 2 jerks get uppity, they can be easily quelled. Now, we fill the room with people and coincidentally the percentages stay the same. Now, even though we have 19,800 people quietly enjoying the game, you also now have 200 jerks in the room. The 200 jerks in the room will cause a much greater ruckus than the 2 jerks did before; even though the percentages are the same. They can even form a large group and cause real trouble.
The trouble jerks cause in a game raises proportionately as more are able to band together. When you have 5 million subs, even at a generous 1% you still have 50,000 jerks. That's a lot of jerks and the mischief they cause can be quite noisy indeed. Since jerks cannot team up with themselves the amount of aggravation they can cause does not raise 1 to 1. Also, one jerk by itself is only going to be able to really aggravate 1 out of ten people. This can be expressed as follows:
First we must find the number of servers: Wow has 155 servers for 5,000,000 subscribers. Using this as a base we create a comparative ratio:
155/5,000,000 = x/y
Where y=the number of subscribers and x=undefined
Solve for x to get the number of servers. x must be rounded to the nearest whole number.
Now we detect aggravation levels:
Where 1 Jerk generates and aggravation level of .1 and where A = the # of jerks and where N = The number of subs the jerks can aggravate with minimal effort
(200 * .1) * (100/2) 20 * 50 = aggravation level of 1000 which is a good 5% of the players
And 50,000 Jerks out of 5,000,000 players is
(50,000 * .1) * (25,000/155) 5000 * 161.29 = 806,450 or over 16% of the player base at any given time.
So you see, it is simply the number of people playing. The community as a whole is not necessarily immature, it is just people notice a mob of 50,000 people in a city with 5,000,000 people more then they do 2 idiots in a town of 200.

"A lot of immature and big population..."
That... uh... makes no sense at all o_O.

(A * .1) * (.5A/x) = N
So 2 Jerks out of 200 users would be
(2 * .1) * ( 1/1)
.2 * 1 = 0.2 or negligible aggravation levels
And 200 Jerks out of 20,000 users would be
(200 * .1) * (100/2)
