Rise of Agon has been out for a while.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Hahahahah! Did it? So much so that it was shelved.. what.. 4 times now? Please. You're not fooling anyone. How many people are playing this game? The only thing it ever blew away was itself.

it still did that it got shelved was pure failure of the devs and the games direction or lack of. it still remained well populated even after promise after promise broken. every crossroad aventurine came along they took the wrong one, countless times
looking forward to new dawn, this time the game seems to have the devs it needs.
Anywho, I spent a bit of time with Rise of Agon and enjoyed the shit out of it. Unfortunately my gaming time has been focused on a few other non MMO titles these days. Definitely going to have give this latest iteration a go, though. I can almost smell the sweet air of the Tribelands now.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
I guess because it's a lot harder for small development teams? And this game is clearly still popular.
What is the payment module?
Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Think it will be a sub with a view to introduce a plex like in game currency for the freeloaders!

I have found in my lifetime, that the beauty of hating stupid people is, that it crosses all racial boundaries.
I wasn't a fan of the original either, but this version looks like it is addresses what I disliked. Character building will actually be a thing, and pve is being improved pretty dramatically. You should check it out their FAQ.
I played and enjoyed Shadowbane but I have zero desire to craft houses or be a construction guy in a game as I do in real life. I don't think big siege battles or big mass pvp battles are as fun as most people seem to think either so if there isn't something to do when I log in that isn't boring to me I'm not going to last long. Shadowbane was okay in pve, and this looks to be better, and from the FAQ it doesn't seem like I will be forced to craft.
I really hate how crafting has just taken over whole genres. Survival equals crafting. For most people it seems sandbox also equals crafting. No npc vendors, no npc cities, no npcs means the game has no actual content that required much work. Its like a game with the game removed to cater to ultra social strange folk. I think it is very stange that people actually dislike and are hostile towards actual content that gives people a game and things to do besides yap and craft and wait for something to happen.
i liked the UW also more - played both "versions" from release, UW had a lot of improvements over DFO, but the actual combat wasnt really that fluent (later it was ok but it was already late)
i was testing ROA and at that time the most improvements were done to UI and simplification of processes etc, great is that they got rid of the macro needs (mostly).
New dawn though seems to be focusing more on the gameplay itself (both do, but New Dawn did much bigger changes) and will try to attract also new players and players who liked DF combat but couldnt swallow the grind/gang fest - the cheapest bundle is 20$ and includes 2months sub so its not that bad, might try it out
