I love star wars, but I do not know if it's worth buying the game because of so much controversy :C
If you love Star Wars - it is 100% worth buying. FOR SURE
I love star wars and I 100% will not buy it. Buying it will tell EA they can get away with everything as long as it's star wars. That people are fine with being lied to, over charged and given a half ass experience as long as it's in the star wars universe. If you love star wars you wouldn't get it because you don't want to see the ip held for ransom then show them they can't keep getting away with this shit.
Overcharged? It's the same price as any other $60 game, has a campaign similar in length to most shooters these days (4-6 hours) and offers near countless hours of multiplayer play, just like Battlefield 1, Call of Duty, Halo, Destiny... etc. etc.
There is nothing "half ass" about the experience.
It is a solid, fun game to play - yeah the story is cheesy/classic Star Wars popcorn fan service stuff - but that is 100% OK.
Not everything has to be ZOMG so DEEP and EDGY and "COOL" - it's OK to just have fun.
Like the movies, not everything has to win Oscar's to be "good" and have fun with.
Did any of Marvel's movies like Avenger's, Guardians, Thor etc. win Oscars? I don't think.
Doesn't make them any less fun for being more "shallow" and doesn't give them any less value - last I checked tickets for Last Jedi are the same price as tickets for The Shape of Water or whatever.
I'm a lifelong Star Wars fan who thought Star Wars was DONE outside of random extended universe stuff, where a good Star Wars game hadn't been made since... KOTOR? Jedi Knight 2? X-Wing Alliance?
Then Disney came along, made the deal with EA, started the new movie trilogy and the Anthology films...
Star Wars is BACK and is JUST getting started. As a REAL Star Wars fan, I couldn't be happier to have more of what I love.
It's not all going to hit - there will be misses, but so far - love love love everything Disney has done since they took over and resurrected a dying brand.
I love star wars, but I do not know if it's worth buying the game because of so much controversy :C
If you love Star Wars - it is 100% worth buying. FOR SURE
I will have to disagree with that. I tried the demo and uninstalled it. I love Star Wars, but not SWBF2. Even though they turned off MT, the progression system remains the same and is designed to be a slow grind so you will be more likely to pony up. I was also seeing hacks already and just like the first SWBF, Dice is doing nothing about them.
I only know two people who actually bought the game and both have stopped playing already. They think the game isn't worth the grind. Gets old fast. YMMV.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Yea take it from this guy. He tried the demo so he knows all about the progression system and whether or not it's "worth the grind". /s

You are aware EA gives the entire game as a demo for 10 hours right? M9re than enough time to get an idea of the p2w grind fest they call progression.
Honestly, all this "outrage" towards EA is nothing but the next big thing to get upset over. The game is great - far better than Battlefront 1 was and an excellent game to hop in and have some fun. Out of all of the pay 2 win, paid DLC ridden, microtransaction games that have plagued the gaming world lately, why is Battlefront 2 so different? It's not, it's just the "hip" thing to hate lately. The new age World of Warcraft.
yeah, because all of the past "hip things to hate" made a game companies stock take a 3 billion dollar loss.
/smh
lootboxes aren't the problem. P2W lootboxes in competitive games are.
I love star wars, but I do not know if it's worth buying the game because of so much controversy :C

YOu have to pay for EA access(subscription) in order to unlock that trial. That is literaly purchasing a demo. They arent giving you anything. Want to try the game? you can only pay for the game or pay for the trial.

It's not a demo. It's a trial, with full access to the full game for 10 hours. As Darkrain said, more than enough time to form an opinion. You can play every mode for well over an hour. If MXT were still enabled, they'd let you buy crates even.
Yes, I know that is only physical units. That does not matter however, as it is far more likely two things are the case:
1) More people bought physical units because the people who buy physical units are less privy to the loot box situation then people who buy digital
2) Even though it is just physical, it is still down 50% from what it was before. There is no way the different in digital sales went up that significantly in just one year.
It is also funny to see people defend the game even disregarding micro transactions. The game has rubber banding, bland gameplay, and a really bad campaign that is disjointed as well as predictable...it also ends prematurely saying "THE STORY CONTINUES IN MULTIPLAYER" . Don't take it from me, read a review :P
You our probably could have Left it without the completely subjective, unsupported assertions and came off sounding much more intelligent.
In fact, being that it is physical copies is MASSIVE considering about 80% of game sales today are digital, with is up about 15% since 2015.
I could also also tell you that BF1 offered a Black Friday deal in 2015, whereas BF2 didn't. COD did, though, and it's now the second highest grossing CoD game after its first month. Could BF2 have moved 1 million copies if they discounted it by 33% like CoD did? IDK, that's all speculation. I wouldn't be silly enough to assert that's the cause of the drop. However, it is a contributing factor. Only the quarterly will tell for sure.

Again I very distinctly remember seeing a deal on BF2 in my area that week.
I bought it. Fun game. Enjoy couch co-op. Don't like it? Feel free to piss off. Frankly I'm digging it.
And obviously a lot of other people feel the way you do. EA is betting 12.5 million people. Because if everyone was a shrewd consumer, companies like EA wouldn't try to swindle us all the time.
Overcharged? It's the same price as any other $60 game, has a campaign similar in length to most shooters these days (4-6 hours) and offers near countless hours of multiplayer play, just like Battlefield 1, Call of Duty, Halo, Destiny... etc. etc.

And do you know why you get that campaign this time around? Because last time people complained that for the price it should at least have some campaign in it. Not because the game sold well and the company decided to give us more this time around out of the goodness of their hearts. Which happens never. So on behalf of all the people complaining to get better games, I'll steal a line from Maui "What can I say except you're welcome"
Once you realize that is true, maybe you should take a stand against this nonsense so the next game will be even better.

This This This. I love Star Wars embarrassingly more than anyone I personally know. I love it so much that I want to send a message so Disney will end the exclusive with EA so that all of us Star Wars fans can actually have Star Wars games that are REALLY good and worth playing. I still freaking play Jedi Knight Academy because it's better than half the crap we've gotten in recent years except for Force Unleashed...those were boss.
If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!

Fak!! Already bought PS Store gift cards in lieu of a sale, hoping to catch something in the new year. Really wish they had just done this on Black Friday. I mean they were tanking at that point anyway, weren't they?
