Is WoW worth a subscription in it's current state?

more people will play the game if they take away the subscription but they don't care they know there is enough people paying the subscription every month and buying the expansions every year to keep them making money so they will not change it.

I would never have guessed that more people play free games.  The problem isn't getting people to play, but developing a sound business model that is fair to all of those players and sustainable over the long term.

I don't want to plan an MMORPG where I am nickeled-and-dimed for everything from character slots, to material storage, to inventory space, to bank space, access to higher tier spells/abilities, access to content, etc.  I'd rather just pay my subscription, buy the expansions; and be on a fairly even playing field with everyone else when it comes to gameplay, content access and overall "monetary balance" in the game.

I haven't played in a good while, but can tell you that WoW is still far and away better than 99.99% of the other offerings out there.  Pay a box fee and a sub, and never have to worry about much else after that.

I'd say WoW has more quality and content in just one of its zones, than the 848,665 "free to play" games we are bombarded with day in and day out.  Don't let the hatemongers and people who can't afford a sub fee spoil it for you.

I get the itch to play occasionally. I don't drop my credit card any more, I just buy time cards and pop those in.

When I finally drift out, I haven't forgotten the stupid auto-renew thing.

i left after played 3 months on WotLK, it was pure garbage, they turned the game not enjoyable and the introduction of dailys it feels as work, for me BC patch 2.3.3 Gods of Zul'aman   was the pinnacle of the game, after that starts the downfall. Even if they paid me i will not play the game after that patch.

For me, I felt like I was getting nickle and dimed to death by the F2P games I was playing for what I wanted to do in it. I don't have a ton of time to play but for now I decided to resub to WoW and roll new toons on the opposite faction I played on since BC. I quested here and there and did a ton of dungeons and have been having a blast.  The game has a lot to offer and the Legion content looks beautiful.  Hopefully PvP will get some love next Xpac though (sounds like it will).

for me at this moment? no. but i've played it on and off since 06. for new players? probably not. i mean it is catching up to what gamers want(sloooowly). but in some aspects it's probably just too dated.

I had fun once, it was terrible.

I guess that's for each to determine.  If ya like faceroll play, maybe.  It does have years of content and imo, cheaper than F2P games (assuming you want to do all content).  I keep going back every once and a while and end up quieting after the first dungeon (current players, just don't play correctly anymore).  Five man groups with five DPS..errr???  In the end, your call...
