Fortnite News - Epic is one of the first companies to come out with a statement about the Meltdown vulnerability affecting two decades' worth of Intel-based computer systems. The issue is said to be a significant one for game development and for online services. Updating systems has, however, caused performance issues and notable slowdowns for cloud-based services in particular. As a result, Epic is keeping its Fortnite community informed about recent login issues & service instability.

    Bullshit. If that's true they use some really sloppy server software that constantly switches between kernel and user mode and attempts to I/O all the time. I simply do not believe someone would write a modern server like this.

    To be fair it sounds as if the reported issues this week are due to patching activities which are being frantically implemented most everywhere atm.
