Disclaimer: I've played Warframe since 2012 on-and-off, and have purchased the majority of Prime Access packs in order to support DE. Take that for what its worth.
Warframe is a really great experience, especially given it is truly F2P. Many of my friends play Warframe on-and-off as well, and really enjoy that the game does not have a punishing monetization model. Yes, there is a lot of stuff for sale, however, it is all easily accessible by selling items to other players for platinum or by grinding for it and crafting it yourself. It really reminds me of a third-person, sci-fi version of Diablo; its a looter shooter with tons of fun game play combinations and nearly endless horizontal customization/progression.
DE has come a *very* long way from where they've started. They are *constantly* updating the game at a rather quick pace, and take lots of feedback from their community as a whole. This is the biggest reason I've been an avid supporter of Warframe from the beginning.
The biggest gripe I have with Warframe tends to be with the community in general, as it tends to be a bit younger. Other than that, some of the more desirable items can be difficult to grind for, but still attainable none-the-less. However, other than that, I can't think of any reasons to not suggest people giving it a shot.
Literally. Every point is the same. Horizontal gearing is a passion of mine as I love the flexibility and customization. I want to customize and let the game (and me to an extent) play itself.
My mind very quickly determines "am I working" or "am I playing."
Do newbies still get paired in matches with veteran players? I heard that was a big negative for many- running through missions trying to keep up with vet players with powerful weapons clearing content faster than you can even get to it.
Yeah it's all the same, i exclusively played with some friends for the same reason. My friends stopped playing so i moved to the PS4 version to play with my cousin who doesn't have a PC and it was the same thing there too. I would say just do your own thing, if they want to rush, don't mind them.
THat's one of the main reason i main Ember, so i don't have to worry about people who rush the game. I kill everyone with ease.
Yup, I favor the slower warframes and am usually the last one to get to the exit. Don't worry about trying to keep up with the speedsters like Ember.

Curious why every site is now on the 'warframe' bandwagon. The game was in "open beta" for many years (and it may still be, Im not quite certain). But they kept pumping out more cash shop items in this open beta state, for years, taking a long long time to address its many flaws. I have several hundred hours in the game, if not approaching 1k+. Im tired of it. All they give you are more warframes, guns, to level over and over and over. Finish leveling Gun A? Forma it, level it again. And again. This has been its content, until PoE which is a bit too late to save the game for me.
Even twitch viewership is abysmally low.
I think after 6+ years of open beta (etc), the game won't get much better. It'll be an aging game in a year or two and DE will finally be hitting its stride with the game. A shame too.
if those 1k hourse you played were at launch then i wont judge you.
I've been playing on an off since closed beta and Warframe is probably the most updated F2P mmo out there. Sure they always add new frames, weapons, and cash shop stuff, but they add a ot of new content with every major update.
Everyone is on the Warframe badwagon because they are moving to bigger open maps now. Plains of Eidolon introduced the first open ended map. It's not open world, but the map is huge with some dynamic content going on.
When you have big AAA companies screwing up all over the place, and then Warframe comes out of nowhere get things done well, of course it will attract attention.
It is OK you are tired of it, that is the same reasosn i play on and off. I do all the stuff i want, then get tired and take a break until a new big update hits live servers. That gives me enough content to consume again.
Lastly, it doesn't matter they add many stuff in the cash shop, you can buy the entire cash shop without paying a single dollar. I pay my dollars because i support DE. A lot of AAA mainstream companies could learn some things from DE about being transparent with their users.

Over the years, I've found Warframe to be a fantastic "in-between" game; I often play Warframe in-between large updates in my "main" game, because its easy to step away only to come back to exactly what I had previously (especially since there's no subscription).
Warframe is also one of the few games where coming back is enjoyable, because there is lots of new things to do/try rather than a bunch of things you missed.
For comparison, when you come back to a game like WoW and skipped an xpac/raid tier, you don't really get to enjoy the content in that xpac/raid tier. Whereas in Warframe, you still get all the joy of the content they've added over the period you've been gone; all the new weapons, tilesets, warframes, game modes, etc.
I love everything about Warframe except the fact that frames have gender designs. Some guys actually don't like playing female avatars. When you have an amazing frame like Octavia but don't want to play a female designed avatar it's annoying.
What you are essentially saying is the artificial constructs of warframes (or avatars in other games) should all physically resemble male.
Approximately half of the gaming population is female. I have never heard a woman state they refuse to play a game because there are only male avatars. They don't like that limitation but they have accepted that the artificial avatars are not representative of who they are. Can you do the same?
What you are saying essentially is that you have no idea what I am saying. Never mentioned they should all be male. I wrote specifically regarding that some people do not like to play avatars of another gender. Experiences differ but I have heard quite a few lady gamers that steared clear of games with gender locked classes. My statement was simply that I would have preferred each frame either be gender neutral or have a male and female representation.

My last statement on this so the thread doesn't get side tracked further. What does gender neutral look like?

I stopped playing because i just wanted to take things slower. Everyone rushes to the end, If i hadn't equipped all
the speed boost mods i could get, there would be regular missions where i wouldn't even SEE the boss.
It is definitely not a bad game, i just like being slow, methodical, and exploring every darn nook and cranny.
I do miss it a bit sometimes, but not enough to go back to the Mad Dash

Some players have the speed rush mindset, absolutely; it can be very frustrating if you're new. Playing solo is an option though -- you just have to change the multiplayer setting in the top-left corner of the screen of the star chart.

Another option is to find like-minded players and group up with them. Not everyone rushes to the end, so find other players that want to take it slow. Hopefully you can find a static group that plays at the same time you do. And unlike a lot of MMOs out there, even if the full group isn't there you can still jump in and play with whoever is able to make it that day.

Grindy but rewards pay off in the end.
Best part i can play it completely free and still get all the cool stuff thx to trade system.
