Now, I feel like trying WoW once again... or at least try it and keep playing it...
Why? Just because the HP of mobs got increased?
Content has been ignored, gaining abilities is still geared towards the end and the difficulty that some claim is really not there. It just takes a bit longer, the A.I. didn't suddenly get smarter or haven't gotten new abilities.
The levelling experience was a complete ignored mess but it's really not that much better than what it was. Especially how half arsed the HP increase was handled. Balance is all over the place, people would notice if they went from 1 to 80 instead of the lower levels we usually hear about.

It is way better, stop trying to sway shit because you re anti WoW. The levelling experience is great now.
Scaling alone is not the game saver. For questing it became kill 1 mob, rest/eat to full HP, kill 1 mobs and that gets boring fast.
It worked miracles for dungeons though. CC, focused targeting, dodging aoe, etc, are now more important than mindlessly using all your cds. Bye bye speedruns. Too bad all the wannabe healers and tanks don't queue up anymore and queues times have increased. Guess I should have leveled my dps alts first before my main healers .

What crack are you smoking... I play wow. So much for that anti nonsense. And it being great? No! better? Sure, but when it was a total clusterfuck before than it's not hard to make it better.
I cannot share the authors enthusiasm at all. While it sure is nice to have a more free approach in the end it devalues getting level as any + in power gain means everything around you just got the same and whatever you do means zilch.

Wow, brilliant comeback...
Ah well, every game has its irrational 'everything is great' guy. How dare I want the game to even be better than what it is. Shame on me! Such horrible intentions.

Yep shame on you.
Isn't the problem that what's "better" is at least to some extent subjective?
Effing hate the patch, Scaling is fine, but the HP buff and overall XP nerf is absolute shaite. Have seen a lot of complaints before the patch from the PTR testing, and many more are starting to complain now after release. Just in trade there has been general F U moments. And before they anyone goes on and on with the argument that this to help new players, I don't think new players are even going to try WoW any longer. MMORPG.com is not a good indicator of what new players are looking for in an MMO... Reddit IS!!! I have been following a few of the biggest MMO subreddits for the past years, and a general opinion/wanted criteria I see from new players is a good endgame or some sort of good progression system with very few/no barriers to entry (skill/luck/time). But rarely do I see people wanting general questing and/or levelling (emphasis on GENERAL). Especially not tedious and boring questing/levelling. They regard many of the quests in MMOs just as sidequests, something NOT related to the main story of the game. Maybe this mindset is something coming from experience playing single player games, with ONE huge quest line (or a few parallel big ones). Do I disagree with this mindset? No, not really. And as one who has played quite a number of MMOs, and read extensively on a few others I haven't played, I can see why new players and also casual players are left wanting. Sheer and blatant ignorance from the MMO industry.
Is this a paid for piece? If not it reads just like one and you should charge Blizzard for it. Personally, I think this is a horrible idea so sounds like the perfect move for a game catering to children or adults that dislike or are not good at thinking.
Anyone know when the vanilla server is supposed to open? I have no interest in whatever wow has been since they removed skill trees and then continued to remove all complexity from the game until we have this POS today, but wow Vanilla through WotLK was pretty great.
I am pretty torn on these changes. On one hand leveling has been neglected for far too long and many of these changes are good. On the other hand making the leveling process take longer for veterans who are playing for the "end game" is a little tough to swallow. I definitely appreciate the challenge, but when you're on alt number "X" you've spent a bunch of gold on heirlooms and exp potions because you want to level quickly it's a little backhanded to take out the exp potions and nerf heirlooms and make leveling even longer. I wonder how the BfA stat squish will effect some of it. Overall it's about time they worked on the leveling, but it's such a complete 180 from what their stance has been on leveling, when my tin foil hat is on, it seems like their giving veteran players a ultimatum of pay for the boost, or you'll be subbed just a bit longer because leveling takes so long.
That's why I liked GW2 having leveling scrolls drop from time to time. If you've leveled characters in the past in a zone say 6 or 7 times already, why not give an option to skip parts of that other than buying an instant 100 boost. ESO is pretty decent with a greater variety of zones to level in, increased leveling xp weekends and such. Plus getting up to 50 is pretty easy anyway and your CP doesn't have to be leveled again, only added to what you already have.

Anyone who thinks MMO gamers want challenge over ezmode faceroll need to read the complaints in this thread.
I don't think gamers like challenge as much as they like people to think they can steamroll challenging content (ego). If you're into challenge, play Darkest Dungeon. The rage that game generates is likely unparalleled.
And you wonder why publishers just sell shit in a cash shop. People don't want to engage with game mechanics to get that stuff. They want it fast and easy.
The people that hate this should probably skip the Classic server(s) when they're released because of obvious reasons.
That's why everyday day, more and more, I identify these products more as toys rather than games these days.
