Good to hear some of the crowdfunding games are coming out.
Quick questions to those that have been following this game (and from someone who wants to know more):
    1) The videos I have seen were mainly just seeing how many could be in a place, I never really saw any real features shown besides the CUBE, what has been developed?
    2) PvE at all or strictly PvP??

Strictly speaking: targetted for 4th July - so just after they hope to have the new hire. Hopefully all will go well.

    July 4th!

For those not knowing it's significance: It's 3 days after Canada Day!

I spent a lot of time in the old DAOC and loved my first experiences in "RvR". While at face value I'm not interested in a new one I hope this is a big success for those that are.

    - over 1.5k players on the same battlefield @60fps (tested with old hardware)
    - server side physics
    - players create their own abilities out of components
    - magic effects will be treated as objects within the game which means they can interact with other objects (e.g. spells)
    - CSE (the studio) has created a server-tech somewhat similar to SpatialOS
    - etc.

PvE at all or strictly PvP??

CU has no PvE progression or questing, but PvE for gathering raw materials exists. Also they've planned a very hard non-instanced dungeon, The Depths, where high-tier resources can be found.

And this is what makes me partly sad about this game. The mix of pve/pvp in Dark Age of Cameltoe is what made that game awesome. But I am still looking forward to this game as well.

They said they will change their refund policy before Beta to stop people from buying just to peek.

That’s fine and understandable but on CUs side it means they need to deliver on their promises which include the timeline.

    DarkAge of Cameltoe?
Not sure if that’s a great idea but how is that even in your spellcheck?

Announcement fatigue is becoming a thing. I'd never have thought that.

I'm glad they're going into beta and moving forward. It felt stuck for a long time.
I hate to write anything that casts a bad light on developer transparency but sometimes... those constant update emails can get old. At least they weren't selling things like a certain other game in development...

I know its a silly little thing... but why delay to meet a holiday event?

Instead of when its ready... guess it makes guessing a targeted release date easier... just pick the closest holiday at the end of beta.
  • TamanousTamanous Member RarePosts: 3,030
So June 12th feature lock and then fix/polish what they have for July 12th Beta launch. It's a padded date where it's 50/50 chance of early or later Beta 1 release ... the best guess of a realistic date.

Beta testers likely testing it a bit early along with Alpha testers (the polishing phase of the feature locked Beta candidate). New producer sounds like is really helping with this focus and much needed at this stage.

Just  date they picked around the a realistic window. The actual day merely aligns for hype benefit.

Are you sure? Because I think I've heard on the announcement-stream the will change their refund policy some time after the 4th because they want to make sure ppl understand what they're buying into.

    I'm always sure  :)

Looky-loos won’t be joining us for Beta 1, I suspect, because we are going to change our refund policy for new purchasers once it is ready to start. We’ve had a bunch of people who have cost us money doing that during Alpha test (get the highest tier possible, refund with the first couple of days) and we are not going to allow that to happen during Beta 1. We’ll be doing lots of streaming but we will actively discourage people from buying a tier just to try the Beta 1 and then refund.

In a perfect world I would agree, but as long as there aren't any more year long delays or massive changes in features then it doesn't bother me.

I can't believe MJ committed to a time like that. He must be serious because he doesn't want to delay Beta after an announcement. I can't wait to check out the Beta build!

I have virtually no interest in PvP, but am somewhat interested in playing as a full-time crafter. It will be interesting to hear how that aspect of the game is working out.
