Recently I noticed that I was getting mild to moderate headaches after spending any amount of time in front of my computer screen or browsing Pinterest or Twitter on my phone. I don't usually wear eyeglasses but with every new birthday and every computer-induced headache, I decided it was time to try a pair.

    Welcome to the site!

What would the benefit of these be over traditional prescription glasses with anti glare coating?

Thanks! These actually cut out the blue light, which both strains the eyes, and can cause you to "stay awake" (like when browsing your phone in bed). Most of these kinds of PC glasses use a yellow filter, but Felix Gray uses a different technology: https://shopfelixgray.com/lens-technology

They use the Anti-Glare AND other blue-light filter tech.

    Ahh cool.

As I get older my eyes definitely strain much more.   I have pretty much thrown in the towel and wear my glasses anytime I get in front of a screen now.

These sound like they could help me. I use 1.25 readers, but I still get headaches and have started wearing them for anything close up. I should probably get an exam first, but if that comes out as just needing readers then this is what I've been looking for. Most of the blue-light lenses I've seen have been yellow or dark. I'll keep this in mind when doing research. Thanks!
I'm jealous, because I am blind as a bat, and I need full RX. These don't come in RX yet, but when they do, I am totally getting them.

These glasses sound cool. I am blind as a bat, so I currently have prescription glasses with anti-glare, and tinted to avoid the blue light. I get headaches if I play games for more than a few hours. So anything that can help my eyes would be great.

That’s cool for sure. A lot like Windows 10’s night light mode. But the Felix Gray glasses do this WITHOUT changing the color or tone of what you’re viewing. That’s something to keep in mind. As an all day glasses wearer, I want that functionality without the yellow tint.

Hmm I thought this was a site to discuss mmo games. Turns out it's a site to discuss what you can blag for a free review.
I can acknowledge reviewing a gaming mouse or keyboard, but glasses? Go visit your optician if you have eye strain or headaches
No wait, I need a new house, I will review a new house if someone will give me one and surprise it will be a positive review mentioning how it gives me room for my rig and 100% wifi coverage (to keep it game related). Or a car hmm Elon Musk can you send me a new Tesla Roadster I will give you a review and mention phone charging whilst driving which enables me to play Toram when I park up
This site either need to change it's name to "I blagged this for a free review.com" or get back to what the site is called MMORPG.com

Yeah, my phone comes with F.lux and Windows 10 comes with Night Light. Plus Eye exercises once a day does wonders. Pick a spot as far away as possible and stare at it (without blinking) for a count of 20 then blink and look at something close. Do this a few times a day everyday and it does help reduce eye stress.

For eye strain you don't need fancy glasses. Just use the optician's 20/20/20 rule - every 20 minutes, stare at something at least 20 feet away, for 20 seconds.

I do this at work since I'm at a computer for 8 hours a day just by setting an reminder on my Outlook that I delay every 30 minutes once I do it. I just stare at a nameplate for an office across the hall from my desk and try to focus on the letters. Doing this often enough throughout the day while using a computer gives your eyes the break they need to avoid headaches and eye strain.

It's also useful I've found to start at something you can focus on, because if the letters are blurry, then your eyes really need a break and blinking a bit to get things in focus helps. It's also a great time to get up to go the the bathroom, stretch, get a drink, etc. which are also things you should be doing regularly to give your body a break at the computer. Don't waste cash on things you don't need.

Sounds like many people in same boat as me,getting headaches. So i will share what i have learned over the years but of course doesn't set it in stone but likely does.

I have had a computer since i was a very young person because i was taking computers in school,so my guess, around 35+ or so years.

So i have been on and sitting at a computer for VERY long periods,no problems what so ever.So to me that right off cancels these glare/blue light theories but they make for good arguments when trying to sell something.

When i started getting massive headaches,i tried to figure it out so i ended up getting computer glasses, the top brand name whatever that was,i forget.Well guess i can look lol,ok they were Gunnar's,still own them.

So what did i find, nothing, they didn't help at all,so again blue light/glare i cancelled completely out now as just a marketing pitch.I actually need lots's of light to see, seems my eyes don't see well at all if not well lit.
So what is the problem causing these headaches?Simple, our vision is lacking,so we strain to see and glasses "something else i ended up getting"are not fool proof in improving our eyesight over all distances.
Well further health issues and finding out even more,my eyesight was tested and told to be very healthy,so why do i struggle to see and get headaches.Well i have kidney disease and an extreme lack of blood flow to my kidneys.Well lack of blood flow causes high blood pressure which can lead to headaches as well it goes in hand by ruining your eye sight and not allowing enough blood to your eyes.

All of my health issues seem to happen over night,my eyesight went from pretty good "no glasses"to needing 2.25 literally over a year.Long winded point,i would be concerned to underlying health issues before thinking any special computer glasses will solve anything because they didn't do a single thing for me,except sitting here collecting dust.
Oh btw another important point, even though i know of my health issues and wear glasses yada yada,i can still at times go long periods with no ill effect at all, while other times one hour and i feel like i'll puke and get headaches,my theory, two things ,blood pressure high and lack of sleep also aiding in eye strain and possibly even stress.

Another thing "trying to help anyone in need",when you get those headaches, check your legs for swelling,if you can press your thumb/finger into front of your leg and it leaves an indentation, you have poor blood flow and high blood pressure and will cause lots of problems.Your legs are retaining fluids"not a good sign".
Under these circumstances, the only way to combat that is long periods of heavy exercise or by simply not sitting more than an hour without getting up and moving around.

There have been some studies done now by USA universities/colleges that have proven long periods of sitting is very unhealthy because it ruins blood flow through the legs and entire body.

One thing I realized when I did my own research is that a lot of our problems are also related to diet.  Had high blood pressure since I was a teen and it just got worst over time, started having headaches and needed medication later in life.  Did my own research and found a lot of people are sensitive to processed milk and diary products.  Cut diary out of my life and blood pressure dropped to a normal range.  Take nothing for granted, question everything.  Do your own research.

    FYI...

Gunnar has a line if lenses called Crystalline that are completely clear and still block out a good deal of blue light. All of Gunnar's lenses come with an antireflective coating; also Gunnar happens to offer all of their lense types with a RX option.

I've used computer glasses for several years now and it's been a huge help to my eye strain and headache issues. I highly recommend others to look into purchasing computer glasses, regardless of the brand, if they feel that they may benefit from it. I know the typical yellow lenses turn many off so it's great to see another brand offering clear lenses that still block blue light.

    > These actually cut out the blue light ... can cause you to "stay awake"

So that's why the idiots on my work make monitor color temperature 7-11k instead of 5.5-6k (it result in severe headaches - up to vomiting).

My reading glasses have different power on each lens as I have a lazy eye which was never corrected. My relatives just thought I was imitating a bird and considered it a quirk. It took a lecturer in University who instantly pointed out I was not paying attention because I was not looking at her with that hardworking eye and she telling me later about my lazy eye to finally realise I had a problem. Of course after giving birth my eyesight was the first thing to get affected.... my grandmother said the baby tends to exacerbates previous problems.

I wonder if I should get these.

From what I have read in the past... the tint is actually necessary to block the full range (anything blow 400nm apparently), where as just clear with the anti-blue light coating only blocks some of it (above 400nm). "nm" is the measure for lightwave length.

You actually do want the "yellow tint" if you want to block the nm below 400, which is the most harmful. I believe, don't quote me on this, that the ideal block range is between 380-500nm.

Anyways, I have both clear and tinted gunnars, and while both offer relief there is a bigger impact from my own personal observations with the tinted lens.

Personal favorites for long term wear are these $20 Allure Call of Duty Glasses. http://a.co/bi35oOc
I use these more than the expensive gunnars I have. They have broken on me though, namely the frame around the lens but this is largely due to being handled roughly. I buy these in bulk, since supply is off and on. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to try some gaming/computer glasses that have a great fit and better price point.

If you get headaches and words seem blurry you should get checked for astigmatism, which you will need actual prescription lenses for; reading glasses will not help. If you see halos or spikes around lights at night you probably have astigmatism.
