poor conan, i really liked it when it first came out on the pvp servers. but the sieges never worked out. i feel like if it came out today as a new game it would be very liked. and if they actually worked out the sieges then it would be epic.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the "stinker in the series" for me. Arena was a good starting point with Daggerfall making many great improvements. Morrowind topped Daggerfall for me and then Oblivion hit. For the life of me, I just couldn't get into it at all. I tried and tried, too. I waited to buy Skyrim remembering what Oblivion was like. I finally got it and while fun to play, still not what I look for in the Elder Scroll games.
PS: How many games make a "series?" Is EverQuest or Asheron's Call a series with 2 games each?
Is 14 games in the Everquest franchise considered enough for a series?

Even not mentioning the stuff you did...
185 square miles... 900 hours of gameplay... LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Thousands and thousands of items... "Combat is like Soul Caliber!" LOLOL!!!
The whole modern world theme just killed it for me, I never was able to finish it or stomach through it. Series is fantastic up to that point though.
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
It just didn't feel like elder scrolls and felt very flat. They had a lot of pressure though to make a masterpiece that could beat the almost perfect Morrowind.
Star Wars: The Old Republic
It should have been my MMO home for a long while, sadly the game just didn't have enough moments to keep me going. The story choices just made me wish I was playing a new KOTOR game instead of the MMO.
Dungeon Siege 3
To go from an ARPG to a third person action was a decision no one wanted.
Sacred 3
WTF!
There's a ton more I'm sure but those are the ones that hurt me the most.
Dungeon Siege 3, not saying it's a good game but it not a third person action game. Still has the isometric view, unless i'm not remembering it right.
If I remember correctly, it was a third person action game of sorts. I actually somewhat enjoyed it for what it was, but I can see why it would get a bad reputation.
You could scroll out to pan the camera but the action and the orientation was still a 3rd person perspective. Wasn't crazy bad but a farcry from the original and sequel.
[[ DEAD ]] - Funny - I deleted my account on the site using the cancel account button. Forum user is separate and still exists with no way of deleting it. Delete it admins. Do it, this ends now.
AD&D 4th edition - It wasn't D&D, dumbed down the rules, made everything boring and tedious, retconned much of the existing lore for no reason, ended the open licensing, and got rid of the Vancian spellcasting system that is a hallmark of the series. 5th edition still hasn't recovered from this disgrace.
Mass Effect: Andromeda - Weak story, unlikable characters that you never care about, and the dumbed down action combat they replaced the old tactical system with really made this not feel like a Mass Effect game.
Warcraft 3 - For all of its mechanical upgrades, it was too much of a departure from the Warcraft story and gameplay. The shift in focus to heroes, and the twisting of lore to make the orcs no longer evil bad*sses but misunderstood, mopey, tragic heroes. Bleh.
Starcraft 2 - While a good game, it failed to innovate in a genre that has been taken to a whole 'nother level by Relic. It felt like the 2nd expansion to Starcraft 1 and should have been released a decade earlier.
I hated the 6th one. The resources were cut down, dumbing it down. Also I think you couldn't even go inside your own town. It was just a total bust for me. Especially since the previous ones just kept getting better it seemed. Liked 2, really liked 3 and 4, loved 5. I haven't played much of 7 yet. Got it cheap and tried it out barely, seemed better than 6 though lol.
Pokemon
Pokemon Sun/Moon were awful. Hated pretty much everything about the game. Then they came out with ultra a year later which got even worse reviews lol. Before that, probably black/white 2 was the biggest disappointment, but no where near this for me.

OMG! I totally forgot about all of those EQ offshoots! I was just thinking about EQ1 and EQ2, the MMOs
- Al
Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR

Agreed on this one! To me, 4th ED seemed very geared to video games. It even had "class roles" such as tank or DPS or healer. I think 5th ED hit a good mid-point for spells, ensuring Mages were not 2 spells and done for the fight anymore, early on.

For me it would be ANYTHING after AD&D 2E. They started dumbing everything down with 3E and never stopped. This is the same thing that is happening to all the "great" video game franchises, even the ones still being played(WoW and SWToR I'm looking at you). It's also why so many gamers(PnP included) are requesting "vanila" servers/editions.

I loved 2nd as well but find 5th fun . . in a different way.
Diablo III Ultima (anything after IV - I know) Fallout 4 - seemed like a step back from 3 for immersion and pace but might make 5 better Can't think of much else off the top of my head.. . oh. . Europa Universalis III still seems like the strongest one all around to me. I still play the newer ones though.
Not only is that the least favorite out of WAR franchise but it's also IMO the biggest letdown by Mythic. I mean the studio that brought us DAoC the best RvR game in existence, they failed pretty hard with WAR
I didnt think WAR was awful, probably just too ambitious and they bit off way more than they could handle.
I wouldnt say elder scrolls was my favorite franchise, but how can anyone not say ESO? Garbage mmo after some pretty good single player games. Looked and played nothing like the single player games and boring to boot.
ESO would get my vote. Worst action combat of any game I have played, worst racial balance, worst marketplace/auction system. The list just goes on. The devs seem to like to change things just for the sake of change, rather than improvement which is never a good thing. I still like the lore/writing and the art style/graphics. It was the development team I had a big problem with.
Pretty much every game after the second, the only exception being New Vegas. Terrible story, terrible combat, terrible world-building... Then Fallout 4 came out and lowered the bar down somewhere in the Marianas Trench. The game did power armor right, but that's it. New Vegas made combat at least bearable, but did a phenomenal job in terms of writing and world-building. It's the only Elder Scrolls.... err, first person Fallout game worth playing. Final Fantasy
With the exceptions of 9 and 14, every game since 7 has been shit. Bad characters, bad story, bad combat... terrible. Ultima 8 was bad, but 9 was probably the worst game I ever played. Unfinished, buggier than an anthill inside a beehive, horrific story, atrocious voice acting, and it ignored about half the lore and story established in the previous 8 games. A vomit inducing finale to what was once one of the most epic RPG series of all time. And the similar quality of Shroud of the Avatar proves that it certainly wasn't all EA's fault the game was such a mess, either. Alone in the Dark
Yes, let's turn one of the original survival horror games into a bland, boring, buggy action adventure game. Oh, then let's try to make a L4D clone using the series name too! Doesn't that just sound FUN?!?
Legacy of Kain
Hey, let's turn a narrative-driven action adventure series with a good (if somewhat confusing at times) story into a fucking MOBA called Nosgoth. Oh yeah, GREAT IDEA! Only reason I supported that stinker was to show my support for the IP in the hope that Squeenix would see that there's still interest in it, and make a proper continuation. So much for that, eh?
Bioware
Every game other than SWTOR (which was at least somewhat enjoyable for a time) after Mass Effect 2. Garbage piled on garbage, piled on garbage. I fully expect Anthem to follow suit, and hopefully kill the company's name off for good. Pull the plug and let them die, EA.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!
We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

I actually liked Nosgoth. When I played through Soul Reaver, I was interested in the hints of the war between the devolved vampires and the remaining human vampire hunters. Exploring the world away from the main players and making the setting deeper was interesting to me. It was a nice side game that just didn't get the development it needed.
Deus Ex: Invisible War After the greatness (despite its
flaws) that was Deus Ex, Invisible War was nothing but a travesty. The
very definition
of 'dumbed down for console'. Human Revolution was good though (if a little shallow), but Mankind Divided was another step backwards (though mostly because it felt so unfinished).
Resident Evil 6 While 4 was still a great game, and 5 was at least a good co-op action game, 6 just took it way too far. One of the few games I have ever returned. RE7 kind of made up for it (or is at least moving the franchise in the right direction), and I'm looking forward to the RE2 remake.
Fallout 3 / 4 They had the name, and kind of had the look, but the gameplay is at best bland, and the world (especially compared to Fallout 2) is just soulless. New Vegas had its moments.
Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim Not bad games, and I still enjoyed them (with mods), but they lack the heart, soul and depth that made Morrowind so compelling (while seemingly keeping all the bugs and clunky gameplay).
Final Fantasy XIII and XV While both arguably 'good' games, neither of them feel very much like Final Fantasy, which may have been OK if SE hadn't taken soo damn long to develop them. Thank Yoshida for FF:XIV ARR, because without it, FF would have died with the PS2.
Jagged Alliance: Back in Action ... just, no.
Almost anything made by EA, Ubisoft or Activision in the last 10 years...
Edit: Dark Souls 2 At face value Dark Souls 2 should have been a bigger, better, deeper Dark Souls, but the map design was just horrible... the best way I can describe it is un-intuitive, with the 'main' route often hidden from plain view, and enemies positioned to be (as best I can tell) simply annoying. The bosses were also largely forgettable (apart from being, again, annoying, and not in that good Orstein and Smough kind of way), which all sort of made it rather tedious to explore (not good for a Souls game).
I'm not sure I would call Dark Souls 2 bad, but I enjoyed Demons Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 far more, and it is definitely my low point on the Souls / Bloodborn / Nioh continuum.
First of
all I want to say about Heroes Might & Magic. It`s the best series of games
I know. I grew up with Heroes I and Heroes II. Heroes III was my first online
game. My friends and me played it nonstop!
But HMM VI
changed my opinion about the whole series.
Poor
realization, crashes, black screens... Synchronization wasn’t good as well. My
saves were regularly lost. So there were
a lot of bugs in the game. I don’t think that I can describe all of them here.
Single game
was short and dull. The company was really boring. There were no interesting
characters in it.
Gameplay
wasn`t bad. Developers tried to remake HMM III. But realization was worse then
in HMM V. All in all, the 6th part of
the series was mediocre. There wasn't many innovations except Dynasties but
this idea wasn`t so good.
As a fan of 4x strategy, I'm disappointed with Endless Space 2. Too boring, poor AI, annoying music But I'm excited because another 4x game is about to come out this year. It's looking good :O https://www.facebook.com/MORE4X/
I am only a few of the people here that probably feels this about the game:
Far Cry 3 - 4 = I love Far Cry 3, but I didn't enjoy Far Cry 4. I enjoyed Far Cry Primal, but I feel hesitant to Far Cry 5. I am hoping that I love game play and HUD of the soon to be released one.
Fable 3. It was so damn short and many of the new mechanics fell flat. I hope the rumored reboot actually opens Albion up.
Rome Total War 2. While the game runs fine now, it was a disaster at launch. And it still doesn’t come close to Medieval 2 or the original Rome. Both Warhammer TW games are fantastic though and I’m glad creative assembly still proves it can make quality RTS games.
Gonna have to agree with the others saying SWTOR. The class storylines are all fantastic, but it did not keep me playing consistently for 5+ years like Galaxies did. I wanted to lose myself in A Galaxy Far Far Away again, but all I played was a generic theme park MMO with a top notch narrative.
