Yeah their games are all about real money investments. MMO's for the rich so to speak. People spend thousands of dollars in their games. I seem to remember some player spending 10k for a new planet that was discovered. And it turned out to be rich in resources. and player paid real money to get them.
The trick with Planet Entropia is to treat it as a subscription game. Playing for free and sweating is doable, but you think the grind in Black Desert is bad? Never sweated in Entropia
The real "trick" is limiting the game to 10-15 dollars (USD) a month like a subscription fee to a normal MMO. The other trick, don't expect anything out of it...just play the game like a pay to play MMO.
When I played it a long time ago, the game was actually really social (at least on Planet Calypso, the most populated planet). That was by far best part of the game. I remember joining this player made event (I forgot what it was, like a party or something) in one of the cities and the community was surprisingly amazing. Even as a usual solo player, I was welcomed to the community and everyone treated me incredibly nice. Usually I get ignored when I chat in games, but everyone took the time to talk with me and talk with everyone else as well.
Also surprisingly...as someone who solos 99% of the time in MMOs...Entropia was the only MMO I ever WANTED to group with people and I DID group with them. The people were so friendly, I actually wanted to make friends in the game and be part of the experience of the community. The single only MMO that has ever made me not a solo player.
It was one of the nicest communities I've ever seen in an MMO. I was really surprised actually.

You don't want to solo in this game because then you aren't using as much of your own ammo on something.
I played and semi-enjoyed the main game (I think). I didn't go in looking to spend or lose money, just to check it out. I ended up grinding this beginner dungeon over and over because you got a ton of shit. Going off on my own doing missions was slower. I ended up making at least $10 (or maybe $15) and having tons of stuff that I could sell and made it all in a pretty short period of playing time.
I left it all in, incase I ever go back. But unless they add some type of skill cap system and there are actual character building it will remain a game I could have got into.
Maybe this game requires money to be a big shot player, but if you are just looking to waste time and don't mind the lack of character building in modern rpgs it could be something to try. I know people that don't mind grinding a lot could make some money playing. I did and I don't even like grinding.
Actually, you first paid without seeing a picture of the game, so who played at the "casino"? I .. can't say the same about your .. demo game.
Nope, there are many opportunities to try it for free as they've down through the years. Even without it, your argument is quite desperate, anyone can go easily look and see the picture of the game and how it plays before buying (to any game these days).

It will get to a point where you need to put up money, but the amounts increase, on parties trying to go for some good loot, it was expensive to get prepared and it was a gamble to get the outcome, that is when it gets costly.
In fact it is so much about the money that people do parties so they can save money, going solo would mean the whole cost is on you.
Then it has a gamble factor that can get addictive, because you can get big payouts there's always that thing you have to resist on putting up more money to take at a chance at something you really want.
This type of stupid game will lead you to becoming a homeless. If you want to throw money away might as well go and feed the poor or help the widow with kids.
Any reason why they changed the name for the 3rd or 4th time now?
I remember it way back when, gave it a shot cause it was a new concept along with second life, these two were the only two that were acting like a MMO bank at the time. Found it interesting that I had to do math on my arsenal to make sure the hunt I was on was going to be worth it. However the combat and everything about the game was utter trash, it was very badly designed and coded, lagged a ton and just didn't seem like it was designed to have combat in it.
I left cause of that reason and I only put in like $10 or so, for the experience back then to try something new it was worth it but now it is trying to stay relevant in the market as niche as it is.

This relaunch of sorts is to provide a vehicle for their new gaming cryptocurrency, PED which I believe they hope to spread its use to other games and companies.

Hm, well this couldn't be any worse/about the same than dumping 60 bucks every month into an old school mmorpg that isn't going anywhere I suppose. Maybe I could go for this on the side instead, never did get the chance to try entropia.
I played it years ago and found it to be the best layed out world with varying landscapes, that I had ever tried. But it turned out to be expensive if you wanted to play, having to pay for bullets. I cant recommend that.
People have no problem paying $15/mo that disappears into the ether but give them a model that has real world value and they lose their minds..lol. Entropia Universe has been around for longer than most of you have been alive and has always used this model.
Oh the irony , yet .. you are "playing" with your money on SC. At least, Entropia Universe is a game, while SC is a demo!
lol, I'm playing, bought it, playing its current version. Here you download the game, then you pay it, again and again and again and again and again and again. go have fun with that xD
Actually, you first paid without seeing a picture of the game, so who played at the "casino"?
And , Entropia Universe is a F2P game. You first try it for free. You like it? You pay to progress. Don't want to pay ? Keep playing the game for free.
I .. can't say the same about your .. demo game.
Thanks for my morning laugh. There is nothing F2P about Entropia or this game. Both you MUST put money in unless of course you are a glutton for punishment and truely want to just play it free, remember games are supposed to be fun .
I tried it years ago. I started with 10 bullets and could not kill a single animal to get sweat to buy more ammo. It was pretty sad back then.

I think Entropia is one of the better IP's out there, and I really enjoy the community in the games I played.
