The original game’s entire live service has basically been a test case for what works and what doesn’t when putting together this sort of game, so Ubisoft is in a really strong position to knock the sequel out of the park from jump. We don’t know what Ubisoft has planned just yet, but we have a couple of ideas for what we’d like to see in the sequel.

Switch "Ubisoft" with "Bungie" and "Division" with "Destiny" and see how that turned out.
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
imho, I couldn't put them in the same boat, Division was just a let down (gotten better recently) and Destiny was just a rip off and continues to try and do so.

"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
BUT IT IS NOT A MMORPG ! this was ofc a jk
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Signed. I wish this would happen so bad. 2142 is still my favorite experience with a Battlefield game. Titan Mode was way ahead of its time and I would love to see it return.
Let's party like it is 1863!
I had a total blast playing it at launch, including endgame and the Dark zone.
Then the first patches came and ruined pretty much everything at the endgame, including the dark zone!
The DLC's that added Endgame content was a total letdown, broken to the bone, plain NOT fun! It was crap and still is! They never fixed this.
The last DLC and free update after that was actually ok and they finally tried to fix what they broke a year ago. Shame it was a year too late.
------------
So what we want to see in The Division 2? Different director and developers that have more competence!
That would be a good start! So we don't get the same cluster feckup post launch, as with The Division 1. Releasing a FUN and excellent game and then completely breaking it with the first patch! /FACEPALM
Agreed, same, hated feeling like I was playing a single-player game unless I was in a Safe House, Terminal or UG. Some type of Guild system would help with that, I think, so that we could at LEAST see, run into & team up with our Guild Members if nothing else, like in the DZ.
To the OP: Suspension of disbelief? I don't RP, & don't overanalyze games, so things like that mean nothing to me. I hated the bullet sponges because they're boring, not because they weren't believable. What players were YOU talking to?
I don't want any sci-fi setting, I like it being set in our World. If you want to pretend that they're all wearing high-tech body armor so you can immerse, great, but not all of us care about immersion.
My Want List:
-Dynamic group events in the LZ, maybe similar to in games like Defiance, where we can see other players out in the world, not just in the DZ , Terminal, Underground. Always hated feeling like I was playing a single-player game.
-Some type of Guilds, where we can have a way to have a set group to hang out with, the Friend System kind of sucked.
-Some kind of even minor RPG-like system where you can add points into different areas to improve/individualize/spec your character how you want. Say you could add points to Headshot Damage, Run Speed, Cover Defense, Damage to Elites, etc. Nothing game-breaking, a few % points here & there, then save those points with your builds.
-Fix Global Chat so you can set language by region, or have a set of Filters set by language so I don't spend all my time Muting people.
-More character customization & cosmetic options as well as the ability to hide all of your gear except for clothing.
-More World & HVT Bosses, & have them rotate, maybe change Bosses every few weeks, or have them change places.
-More Factions, & more differences between the Factions.
-Different types of enemies.
-Incursions that are really really epic adventures, maybe in different locations outside of NY, nothing that's in a big room. Maybe add some vehicles just for Incursions; cars, helicopters & boats would be awesome for special missions.
-Make crafting mean something again.
-Maybe the ability to swap the Pistol for a really basic melee weapon.
-I'd like enemies that were mutated by the virus, not exactly like RE but something new & different. Armored armed human enemies gets super-boring after you kill a gazillion of them & the only change is that there are more of them & they have more HP.
I think making a new game is the right move, because most of the players that are gone/left will NEVER come back now, no matter what improvements the game has made, but they may come back for a sequel, especially if they add to the story, which is what so many players wanted from D1.
The story, game & leveling experience were super-fun 1-30, then you hit the cap & the game just dropped off of a cliff. Another game where the devs (stupidly) thought all players would be happy running around shooting at each other ad nauseam & calling it the end-game. If The Division has launched in its current state, I think it would at least not have died as quickly as it did.
The recipe is known tho it will be hyped and it will sell exceptionally well and it will be criticized and players will bail shortly after and then we will all come here and discuss the upcoming patch 1.x which is going to solve all issues and the world will carry on on it's trajectory around the sun.
