I keep meaning to try this out. Sadly as I am on night shift my playtimes and voicechat options are limited.

The game has been pretty good, so it's good to hear they are still trying to grow the game.

Why does it say "regained full control"?  What happened?

@MadFrenchie I worded it a bit awkwardly, but they bought out the publishing rights from Starbreeze for $16M. You can read about it at GamesIndustry.biz:

Nah, I'm just completely ignorant of the game.  Didn't realize there was a changing of the guard.  Thanks Suzie!

Bah it sounds lame to me,so instead of a green gas for players to avoid like every single PUBG/Fortnite game, this game has a "killer" to avoid.
What is the purpose of having unlocks and finding stuff in a map if you can't kill the killer, seems rather superficial to me.
So the way i see this is the new owner/publisher sees the popularity and money PubG and Fortnite are making and wanted back in on this.

Also not reassuring was the fact i watched a video where the narrator says one of his fave games from Pax yet seemed to be reading off some accepted script of paper because the game was likely under NDA ,so he got permission.

Having everything in the dark is a lot tougher on the eyes, not a fan of games trying to make their game feel scary simply by using the dark.So no lighting, visuals are worse because of the dark,a game of survivor in the dark.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I've offered them so many ideas for new killers through twitch chat and reddit.

I have proposed a new killer that is a turtle and moves in amazingly slow speed but he is super big. A killer with no hands but has super kicks.

A killer that is an actual shadow so sometimes you think hey that's my shadow but unfortunately for you that's the badass killa.

Another idea about a killer who phrases things in a way that makes the others wanna hang themselves, he could read Sylvia Plath as an ultimate or whatever.

Another idea is two killers fighting each other who the victims belong to.

A spectacular idea i had was a killer who is a keyboard warrior. It could borrow from watch dogs but he will only kill through forums.

Anyway, if you read it all what can i say, sorry dudes.

Personally, I love playing this game. The concept is great and the execution is fantastic. A few bugs and a couple of balancing issues, but nothing bad enough to be game breaking.

The new progression system sounds ideal, the current one doesn't feel right. Hopefully the Bloodweb is what's being changed here.

All in all, it's fun to play solo and fun to play with friends. I've heard complaints about a toxic community, but I don't know what game doesn't have toxicity in their communities, so don't let that stop you.

Started playing it 6 months ago and I have about 100 hours in. I love it and I can't wait for the upcoming changes.

First of all: Your comparison with PubG and Fortnite is so wrong I don't even know where to begin. Fortnite and PubG are Battleground-games, while DbD is an asymmetric horror survival game. You are comparing apples and oranges. Stop comparing apples and oranges.

The purpose of unlocks and finding stuff are for faster healing and making survival easier. Flashlight blinds the killer, toolboxes can remove hooks and repair generators quicker and so on. Survivors are meant to be scared of the killer and avoid him (whether or not this is the case is a different discussion), not gang up on him with axes and hack him into pieces.

And your whole complaint about darkness can be applied to other great horror games. What is your take on Amnesia: Dark Descent (can't kill the monsters here either), a game praised by the gaming community as a whole? Or pretty much every horror movie.

Your text makes no sense. Please stop.

wtf are you babbling about dude? wrong thread to answer or is it just general trolling?
neither fornite nor pubg have anything to do with this game. okai, they run on PCs, but that's about it...

Maybe your just blind, you better look at the game again ,i have watched the actual game play.
It is 90% exactly like Pubg and the rest, instead of a green gas to avoid, you avoid a killer, still the exact same idea.Wander around a zone which appears to be smaller than PubG zones avoid being killed just like PubG,get tossed on the meat hook nothing amazing here.

As someone with 1400+ hours in the game you have ZERO idea what the game is like.

It's less than nothing like pubg/fortnite and I'm not sure if you're watching these "videos" with your eyes closed but damn son damn.

The killer is player controlled. What the hell are you talking about. There is no similarities other than you are avoiding something.

If that's the case. Than every single game ever made that you avoid an enemy is a clone of PUBG and Fortnite. Jesus.

I'm failing hard to see anything the can be even remotely compared to PUBg and Fortnite here.

    • 5 players to a match. 4 Survivors, 1 Killer.
    • Serial Killer is the only character with a weapon (Save for 1 Perk that uses a stabby thing to escape from the killer).
    • You repair generators with skill checks. Failing those skill checks gives a map wide announcement of your current position.
    • Once the required amount of generators have been repaired, you have to open one of the two gates to escape.
    • You can sabotage the Killers hooks to have a better chance of escaping after being captured.
    • Various passive abilities for both players and killers (I believe there is at least 1 active skill).
    • You use "Offerings" to influence ingame mechanics such as the brightness of the map, the thickness of the fog etc.
    • You can scavenge for items in chests, like toolboxes, flashlights and Skeleton keys.
    • You gain points based on your actions, like being near the killer, being chased, escaping, saving another survivor etc.
The only thing out of that entire list that can be loosely compared to PUBg and Fortnite is the ability to scavenge items. The solid difference here is you don't need to, to remain competitive, and you can start the round with those same items you've found if you don't deplete them and survive the match.

Could you please point out the similarities of DbD to PUBg and Fortnite?

EDIT: Added an extra important mechanic
