I've beaten Wildstar and many other 'challenging' MMO's to death 10 fold.
I could use some recommendations.
I highly prefer action (Active block and/or active dodge, aimed skills). And I'm extremely turned off by anime or anything that resembles it.
Upcoming games look great and they're just too far out: Defiance 2050 has definitely got my attention, Crowfall, and Camelot Unchained as well. I could use something in the mean time.
Multiplayer dungeon crawlers would be cool (I like vermintide) doesn't have to necessarily be an MMO, but would be nice.
I have a hard itch that needs scratched, I don't want to roll the content in a month. Need stimulation. I'm retired and have easily 12 hours a day to play.

for your not an MMO

Playing all day every day will not get you ahead by much but you would have no problem worrying about dying or running out of loot. Everything is crafted by players and almost everything about the game HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED when compared to the other versions of the game. There's honestly so much you can do in this game I doubt you would experience everything (or even half of it) if you picked it up and started playing all day every day... would take a year probably.
Its fun as hell if you haven't played it DO IT.
Nobody has the same build, everyone is unique... crafting matters tons and part of your build, most people don't even do it. Economy is like EVE, can make money transporting goods or rob people doing so...
The PVP is the hardest out there right now compared to ANY game that I know of... although its not as often as you would think unless you are actively looking for it.
The grind is pretty much gone, you just need to keep meditation offline skillgain active and you will reach endgame status in a few months... would be a bit faster the more you play but not by that much so its pretty casual friendly. Gear matters A LOT though so if you play every day that is where you may get ahead of others.

The ONLY reason a login screen exists and games are labeled a MMO is to warrant ongoing costs instead of a one time purchase like single player games.
You would never conquer FFXi solo... at one time, now with npc's to aid your side possible i guess.Even still if you ignore what the game has become it was always one of the true MMO's,perhaps UO or EQ can also slide in but that is about it.
I detest when i hear stuff about people soloing stuff that is really hard because 99.9% of the time that is the GEAR and not YOU.This site has blindly been posting such nonsense of late inside of the VERY easy game called Wow.
Soloing and MMO should not be in the same phrase, yes soloing at times for reasons but not as a main reason for playing a MMO.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I agree with you whole-heartedly. I need that itch scratched hard, a good team, and at least a year of content progression.
My definition of challenging: not going to solo half, stand in red - you're dead, little room for error, good group coordination needed.
In the end I want a game that's going to have me floor hugging for my failures.
@Sid_Vicious Do they have NA servers yet? I've held off New Dawn for that. RoA didn't make the cut -- though they may in the future. Like RoA, did they add a champion spawn system? That was fun to do, and if they did it right, I'd jump on it for sure -- can't just pvp all the time, monotony. Big question being: Do they have NA servers, can ignore the other fluff.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.
