With regards to their microtransactions, notice the carefully used words are it will not have the same type of transactions seen in other EA games. Very clever use of words there.
Talking about the uproar over Star Wars Battlefront II
"Had they limited themselves to purely cosmetic items, I don’t think anyone would have said anything. So Anthem has the potential to be Destiny like in terms of game experience, and Overwatch like in terms of microtransactions offered, where it’s all cosmetic and no one bats an eye."
Does anyone actually believe this ?

Once it fails, you shut down 'Bioware', after all they have hardly been top revenue stream of late have they? There shall be one brand to rule them all, so it makes no brand sense to have another brand running inside your own. EA put this of for years, in the first year of acquiring Bioware executives are on record as saying they wanted to phase the name out.
As to whether you can believe what a press release says about an up coming game...believe it when you see it.
When will I ever see another game like Mass Effect again then. I loved Dragon Age too. I hope someone else makes these games these single player games with fabulous stories because I loved them.
Bioware long ceased to be the developer that made ME1+2 or the Dragon Age games, even Inquisition lacked a lot of what made DA:O so good.
Anthem is unlikely to be a good game, realistically about all we can hope for is that it isn't as bad as ME:A.
That's not to say that they won't think of new ways to nickle and dime you but putting things in lock boxes other than cosmetics pretty well died last fall.
“Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?”

Gamers did not even win a battle, it was more like winning an opening skirmish. When gaming companies hire a gaming ethics guy to make sure new revenue streams are not amoral then we will have an armistice.
The game won't be an MMO, Bioware / EA aren't calling it an MMO, and the article you linked doesn't call it an MMO.
Anyway, as to the core of your post, nope, don't believe a word of it! EA will aggressively monetise this game in whatever manner they feel they can get away with.
Point being it doesn't matter what it is out of the box,it is more what it could become down the road.
I'll tell you this,Destiny...pfft whatever,my fave fps shooter type game has always been UT99 and guess what>>>>>FREE.Every last thing added after the fact was free, done by community people, mods, addons, maps, new weapons, game types etc etc.
However seeing how devs are so greedy now i doubt we will ever see this free with tools and free use by the community,i know Blizzard would NEVER give anything away like Epic did with UT99.
Even to thjis day, albeit Epic has jumped on the bandwagon with Fortnite being dumbed down, they still offer a FREE UDK package which no other developer is doing.
Aside from business ended ideas and $$$ talk,i still feel the core basic design of UT99 and weapons is better than any of these newer looking games.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
