Private Server Crossplay?

So are private servers able to be used by people playing on both Xbox and PC like ARK finally is? I'd go back and give the game a whirl if that was the case, but if it is platform locked...eh, I suspect I'd be less apt. Anyone know for sure?

The Steam version of ARK doesn't support cross-play with Xbox, only the Microsoft Store version does.
