Almost 6 years after its debut, the F2P action combat fantasy MMO Tera, developed by Bluehole Studio and published by En Masse, has now arrived on our consoles, specifically PS4 and XBox One. Two weeks ago we started off in En Masse’s “7 day Head Start” program and on April 3rd the game opened up to F2Pers all around the world. We’ve had a few weeks for the “dust to settle” so the question is how have things changed since our first pre-review, if at all.

Something about Tera's endgame is still extremely stale. They pretty much give you gear and then you can do 3 dungeons with about 2 daily limits per > upgrade gear to unlock 3 more dungeons > upgrade and get 3 more > pretty much until no more than then farm mats for alts to do it all over again or just pvp. Fights are alright enough but honestly is that enough? Its like playing an action game just to do the same stage over and over again....or maybe I'm just getting too old to find this fun.

It's not you. I first played this game because people were all screaming how to combat was amazing. I played for awhile and yes the combat is great, but then you get passed that fact and you soon realize that is all the game has.

I played a good while on PC, as a matter of fact I bought a cheap founder's pack when it was still in CB, so was part of the game from CB 1, I believe. The combat is indeed fantastic, but as you said, I eventually discovered that's about all it has. Graphics are great (on PC, not so much on console which was surprising) and I happen to adore the Elin, but the end-game is honestly nothing but RNG "enchanting." And the elitism this created is truly amazing; if you aren't decked out in +15 or +20 or +418 or whatever the new curve is, you will never get group invites. I enjoyed my time with it but grew bored and frustrated with grinding mats for a week, then watching them all go up in smoke with my 150th straight "failed" enchant.

What they said above. I thought this game was great due to the combat mechanics but upon reaching the end / max level, and receiving all the free gear to level up, realised that it was nothing more than simply doing the same dungeons over and over and over again until you get enough materials to constantly upgrade that gear. This gets really old, really fast.

Plus, let's not forget that there has never been a fix for the internet connection issues affecting some of the classes. E.g. I still cannot play both the berzerker and slayer classes simply because my line isn't good enough. This causes some of the skill sets on these two classes to either not trigger or when they do, the mobs, have long since moved to another spot, making you feel slightly stupid slashing away at empty air.

With that being said, it's still a fun game to play for a while if you have nothing else better to do. Just be aware that once you hit max level, there really is nothing much else to do except maybe be an altoholic.

From what I remember Tera only had normal or CE edition with the Regal Frostlion Mount.

Anyways ps4 version is fun, I have some goodies with twitch prime. And ques are almost instant.

Playing on the pro graphics are decent, velika gives me fps drops.
