Questions before I possibly return

rubydragon5rubydragon5 Member UncommonPosts: 693
Hi I bought the 50 usd explorers pack at bout beta time for bdo, I was a bit overwhelmed at first to the game and didnt like how the auctions worked with capped prices.

To explain further I like to in mmo's resell things for profits ingame, it keeps me busy.but the fact I had issues on the auction house with this deterred me a little bit.

How is the game right now and is it possible to return as a completely new player?

How is the population? Any advice what server to re join on or anything else?

Marketplace prices are still fixed so you really can't buy low and sell high for the most part. You can definitely start up again as a new/returning player, but if you're looking to be competitive in PVP, you'll be sorely disappointed.  The population is very healthy, every channel you jump on, with the exception of the pvp channels, always have a lot of people both in towns/cities and out at grind spots. There's no server to re-join per se, you can freely switch from one channel to another.

The game really isn't that hard to get into you don't even have to play you can just buy 192 inventory slots Pay 2 Win, and a Balenos + 15 Rod with Stone, and afk fish 24/7 for millions of in game currency do this like a few months straight and start just buying gear off the market.

Honestly are you saying bag space is P2W?  There are real gripes about this game but the P2W argument is pretty weak.

If a free player can't do it then it's Pay 2 win is it bad pay 2 win no, but a person who instantly throws down $100 and gets all 192 inventory slots vs a person who doesn't can go AFK 16 hours a day and make more income a free play cannot.

^ Perhaps Pay 2 Advance Faster I believe they do sell loyalty to free players but its like 1 slot which takes over 1 year to get all just using loyalty and then you have to sacrifice other items too.

Using the loyalty system you can get 36 free inventory slots per year.   Plus Pearl is ALWAYS giving free stuff.  Just log in for 30 days and you have a great chance at getting an Ogre ring that sells for 85 million.  If you just sell off the first 10 things Pearl gives you, you can make millions, why all the wear and tear on your PC and your power bill by AFK fishing?

For all the content you get in this game for free and the amount of stuff the company gives you every day, to whine about inventory space makes you seem awfully entitled.

Who the hell plays like that? I would never enjoy a game playing like that and I loved Black Desert Online. I think some people have no patience and think everyone else is like them and want to get to the top immediately.

I'll bet quite a few people play like this, for many "winning" is everything and any cost is worth it to them.

Think of these as money mules, while they play their regular accounts.

If I played BDO I would consider setting something like that to passively generate income while I was offline or busy on another account,  especially if only $100 to set up.

The power bill isn't that high if you start afk fishing then click Exit Game > Minimize to Task Bar > your power usage is  under 300 watts per hour or about $1.04 USD per 24 hours running on my system likely even less.

Obviously, most people don't have a UPS system, or even know what that is let alone the proper household wiring basic understanding to have their PC grounded in the first place at least many I meet don't so I ask them how many watts are you pulling "I Don't know" they say.

Even when I am gaming with PUBG on a 1080TI I use about 441 watts per hour depending on the actual RAM load can easily go above 500 an hour.

I also got monitoring software installed that detects power usage and calculates based off custom energy rates and running BDO 24 hours isn't that bad as if you think of it this way you would spend over $20 buying gold from a 3rd party illegally on WOW for example or just $10 getting Millions yourself for free leveling fishing, trade skilling at the same time.

Their is still no player economy. It's still a themepark. There's still no point to anything in the game except grinding.

The problem with returning is if you are competitive. You will never catch the cheaters and exploiters who can literally throw billions around and not care.

If you are one of those players who loves grind, and are not competitive, and doesn't mind it being a themepark, then go for it. It still has that beautiful world :).

Fishing is a noob trap. It's a complete waste of time - you can make orders of magnitude more by processing.

Heck two hours of grinding in Valencia will net you more money than a full day of fishing, unless you get crazy lucky with relic drops.

    Really? Processing what?

I played for a long time multiple 56+ toons 1- 59, and I am slow but I finally realized how ridiculous the gear progression system is. To spend 3 months grinding to get a chance (only to fail most of the time), to go from tri to tet, then start the whole process over and over again, Is TO ME, why I wont go back. It is just the most WORTHLESS grind I have EVER played in ANY game. Have fun to all who enjoy it, but for me...I have been on that "hamster wheel" for the last time. One last thing on these "BIG" money making posts...you can make 10m/hr. doing this and this....you can....but when it costs you almost... HALF A BIL...to TRY to upgrade your equipment...10 mil an hour is not much...now is it!!!

Why does the in game money always get so ridiculous in so many MMOs?

If you haven't logged in for 2 years you should be looking at around 200 mill in the mail just from Fame alone.

As for market, it's a buyers market. It's never in your benefit to sell. The only reason most things even make it on the market is the group loot system.

As for server, you will have 30 days on Olvia exp boosted servers as a returning player. There is no reason not to be on them.

It's not really a buyers or sellers market as the prices are somewhat fixed within a range.

Though, if anything, it's a sellers market because there aren't 25 Pen Kzarka weapons and 52 Tet boss armor anything ....

There are always a "few" of the good items with some of the higher level items very scarce. They always go quickly.

So if I'm a seller and I have something good to sell I'm not too worried as it's going to go very quickly.

I found myself spending way too much real life cash in this game, (I mainly bred horses, so put a lot of cash into that which I know I didn't have to do). Found it wasn't worth it and quit. This game turned me off cause of RNG. It was beautiful though and I do miss the excitement of breeding a really good horse. I was one of the first to breed a Tier 7 horse which was top back then.

In terms of making the sale, that's assured. Why I view it as a buyers market is cost over cost from Market. A Pen Kzarka is priced on material in. It doesn't include fail stack cost or fail enchant cost. Nobody ever 'made money' selling stuff on the market. It's what you do to recover losses and redistribute assets to other places but you will lose on the venture.

The first thing you tell someone new, if you are being honest at the time is buy gear. It's simply cheaper than enchanting your own.
