Sitting all day is bad for you. Science has proven that people who sit too much are at an increased risk of heart disease, deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins, and back problems. There’s a better way. Today, we’re looking at a the M3B standing desk riser from Flexispot. It’s changed the way I use my PC. Read on to see if it’s a good fit for you.

I started by looking at these, but did'nt really like how they felt (I don't like that they have so little depth for the keyboard for instance).
I then looked at what I would need to customize my own already "custom made" desk to add pistons to lift it up, but it seemed a little too much (my desk is huge, screwed to the surrounding walls, etc.), so it would have been too much a hassle.
It then hit me.. Why try to "move" the darn thing when all I need is a chair that is high enough... So I bought a nice Drafting Chair, upped my desk to be perfect for Standing position and built a "platform" on which I can rest my feet flat as if on the ground when I'm sitting in the chair (which also holds my PC, which prevented me from needed longer cables, etc.)
It's probably not for everybody, butI cannot think of working any other way now. My body (especially my back) is thanking me big time !
I even play standing some times, and it's also great! lol
Have you ever tried to stand still all day? If I pause to think internally for more than 10 seconds I find myself pacing 3 rooms away. Meanwhile, I'll sit on my butt for 10 hours straight and I'm not even sure if I've been blinking during that time. I think standing is just a means to an end, not an end in itself.
Exactly. Apparently you burn 30% more calories when standing as well. Standing all day is also bad, which is why being able to switch easily is important. I'm using a Kangaroo standing desk (not as much as I should be) and it comes with dual monitor mounts, but even with the 2 stabilizer legs for when it's up, it still wobbles. I imagine the desk reviewed is easier to raise and lower as well.
Obviously, you would'nt want to stay in the same position for 8hrs a day! But, as others have mentioned, when you stand, you are way less inclined to "stand still" as much as you do when sitting.
And it's also quite important to be able to switch between both positions during the day (hence why I advocate for a good "stool height" chair + higher desk combo, because I don't need to fiddle with anything to switch position, I just need to grab my chair...)
There are certainly other means you could use to make sitting less problematic without resorting to a standing station, but they ended up not working as good as this with me.
And for sure: Exercise (whether you have a "sitting job" or not), is always a must!
