10 skill buckets to mix and match, 12 active skills plus additional passives per skill type, 3 armor types, 15 weapon types (Two Hand/Dual Wield/Weapon + Shield Combo) to determine your playstyle.
TERA launched with 8 classes.
This has 5 classes and they are missing 2 from the legacy versions.

I guess I'm the only one who still noticed the frame drops when there was more than 3-4 mobs on screen. That aside, are they trying to go for some kind of tab target/hit box hybrid or something like BnS? A lot of stuff lacked "impact" to me as well. I'm just not connecting the hype atm. It doesn't look like its worth being b2p to me.
Combat looks similar to Aion, especially seeing the combos proc in front of you. I enjoyed the combat in Aion very much, hopefully the dungeons are better and not forced PVP.
Compared to Black Desert Online (the game I'm currently playing), the combat here in Bless seems less than stellar in comparison sadly, at least in flow/looks/combinations. Let's hope Bless does far better than BDO in terms of PvE balance however; that will go a long way to making otherwise stale-looking combat engaging and satisfying.
The Ranger abilities looks about the same as in Tera with the charge ups and knock-backs every time you use some of the skills. Think I saw a snare shot go in too and just like in Tera, it did absolutely nothing to actually slow the mobs down. And yes, as a lot of people has said, doesn't seem all that impressive at this point.

It's a DX9 game running on Unreal Engine 3 because Bless development started in 2009 before UE4 existed.
The game client is still 32bit, it has a much lower ceiling on max memory usage. I mean hell Defiance 2050 kept most of the game the same but they did upgrade the client to 64 bit at least - lol
Bless has always had frame rate drops - I don't think any amount of rework can change that as long as they are using UE3 in 32bit mode
The plus side with them releasing these videos is that it'll dispel some more of this "hype." Granted I'm sure the combat "restructuring" probably has a few more things to it than just in the video, but again, going back to my previous point, I dont think there's enough to warrant it being b2p. It doesn't really provide anything on the surface more so than something like Riders of Icarus, which pretty much has the same stuff.

Nope. I beat you to it. Starting to see why the other publisher hit this with a hard "no" for performance issues

The branching combo attacks to new abilities looked alright but the player not being animation locked while the enemies are sounds horrible. Just means high level enemies and bosses will have massive AoE attacks that do tons of damage and activate in the blink of an eye which will be the determining factor for the difficulty of PvE content.
First one i look at is the Ranger because that is ALWAYS done badly by most developers.
So i watch the Ranger video and this game is 100% off my radar.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Looks good so far. It's like an Aion and Tera hybrid imo. Hopefully the Mystic and Assassin come with launch. Which would be great, because i won't be playing it till then .
So yet another limited action set, hyper movement, AoE everyhing, and avoid the red combat system... am I the only one that misses the full ability set, 1-vs-1(maybe 2) combat of Vanilla WoW?
So yet another limited action set, hyper movement, AoE everyhing, and avoid the red combat system... am I the only one that misses the full ability set, 1-vs-1(maybe 2) combat of Vanilla WoW?
Nope, not the only one.
Every game that's come out in the last 10 or so years has been the same. Spam ability 12345 fest, avoid red, have addon tell you what to do, when to do it, where to do it, [mod edit] when to wipe your ass, when to eat, spam dungeons with zero communication between players, zero community building features, rush to max lvl, get bored, bitch at devs for lack of content(But wont take criticism for rushing, continue to blame devs), bitch if anything takes any amount of time, devs crash to crying babies and make game super easy, everything given on a silver platter easily, players bitch even more, devs rush content to keep up with the cry babies rushing content and results in content being riddled with bugs which than causes community to bitch and max exodus resides.
^^^^^ This is the repetitive nature that has gone on the last 10 yrs from games all because they try make a game that is instant gratification, takes 2 seconds to acquire anything or accomplish anything. This is the very reason I am excited for Pantheon. Bring back something difficult and something that takes times, oh and having some community building aspects such as open world dungeons to actually COMMUNICATE with your fellow player is also a nice thing.
I WAS excited for Bless when I first saw it but the more I look into it, the more I realize its the same ole shit.
At this point I'd have to agree with some others here: this looks like a generic and/or f2p game. I suppose this is still "early" by today's standards since nobody really releases finished product any more, but still.
Generic ? I am curious to know what is .. generic f2p game by your standards.
About the videos, I love them. The combat and animations are faster and solid then the one in KR/JP version. It reminds me of Aion, which is a very good point.
Also , the combat rework , as they explain it , seems that you really need skill ( beside gear ) , to be really good, which is also a big plus.
Can't wait for the release. Bring it already !!
PS: Where is Kano ? Curios to know his explication as to why this isn't looking like KR/JP version , which he frequently told us that "nothing will change" and that "it will be the same".
I am here - it is literally 90% the same as Japan version.
Do you not see this?
Wait til you see actual end-user videos, and not these marketing dev-made videos.
Right. That's exactly what you said some weeks ago "wait till you see combat videos" . Now we saw them , you were wrong, but here you are, asking ( again ) to "wait....".
And no , is not 90%. Take some glasses please maybe?
Cant say much about how "generic" the game is, but the class selection is pretty disappointing. 3 out of the 5 classes are plate armor wearing melee fighters, two of which carry a shield. Other 2 are ranger and mage which are about as basic as it gets. No agility/dexterity type melee, no pet class, nothing unique. Hopefully one of them turns out enjoyable or more are coming soon.
I do share some of your points, meaning the lack of the classes. The more the better of course, but .. in the same time I do really understand the dev's. They go for EA with a reason , to redone combat, classes and such.
So Mystic and Assassin , two very loved classes by the community as far as I read , will come later this year, before they go full release. They wanted to take the time to redesign and polish those 2 classes , and I fully support them for that.
Also , being self-publishing its very very good. We get the updates first hand and the feedback "first hear". This should be a pretty strong message for every Asian company who wants to release games in the EU/NA : Stop giving rights to some pathetic company from here, and release your game by yourself.
Umm they are releasing on Steam - which takes a 30% cut from all sales, including cash shop. This is literally worse than going with an actual western publisher, most of which take a lot smaller cut.
Again do you not see how ludicrous this is?
They are not releasing by themselves, if they were - they wouldn't be going through Steam but would be bringing up their own launcher and account platform to the west.
Hello?
Well, glad you are not into this or any business ( at least not big enough ) .
Paying 30% to a Publisher ( yes, Steam actually acts like a Publisher ) , where he takes care of everything ( E V E R Y - T H I N G ) , from sales processing to advertising ( I really hope you understand how sales/sales processing and advertising works and how much time and money consuming are , if you start from zero ) , makes developers focus a lot more on creating content.
Steam Platform is a beast money making if your product is good, and so, I will take Steam every fucking day , then to choose, Aeria Games Publishing for exemple.
"This is literally worse than going with an actual western publisher, most of which take a lot smaller cut."
Clearly you have no idea about this. Most of the time, Publishers is adding Marketing costs into the share % , and saying they take "a lot less" then 30% is delusional. Plus , I am really, really curios , as to what Western Publisher would be better then Steam, hm?
Now, a question Kano. If you had , which you don't, but if you had a product , big enough , which Publisher would you choose? Steam or ...Aeria Games ( or insert other Western Publisher ) ?! If you say Trion, then you better stop replying to me.

Ok. I almost vomit from so much dizziness.I will play this game. I have been waiting for so long I will give it a try but omg, they could have done so much better imo showing the combat.
An endless left spinning around the mobs in every clip. I think he was told, "press buttons annd just keep spinning left so they don't notice we haven't polished the combat as much as they think we did".
Go left!! Hit!! Wait where are you going...no no...dont go right!! Go left, just go left or else theyll notice the jerky animation. Yes!! Left again, hit, left!! Yes thats it!! Now...stick to the script. Grab every other class and just do the same!! Oh btw what's your fiverr account number??

Wow - not sure if you are joking or just so completely misinformed about how Steam works.
Steam markets for games outside of their site??? L O L
Steam is a digital store front - for MMOs they distribute the client and will support steam auth logins to be passed unto the MMO game auth servers via tokenization. Steam still requires for a game to have their own auth servers to hook into Steam's auth API.
Steam does not provide game servers, they do not provide any hosting for MMOs at all.
When you see Bless adds on this site or any other game site- you think Steam did that? Nope.
Steam will only put up banners on their site / launcher if you pay them. The price is dependent on time slot - so for example if you want a full background banner on Saturday and Sunday - get ready to drop a lot of $$$ to Steam to do that.
If you want to get your title in "steam suggested" thing that pops up - you gotta pay more $$$
Steam is NOT a publisher - they are a digital store front.
A list of things that a publisher will do that steam doesn't do:
Pay for marketing Pay for servers and hosting Provide customer support for in game issues (GM and tech support - steam won't do this) Do localization work Deploy updates and game patches for both client server (steam will only support the client updates) Provide database and storage/backup services for game and account data Provide analytics and BI services etc...
And you have no clue if you think that western publishers take 30% off the top of every sale - if that was the case NOBODY would ever go with a publisher period in the west.
The reason why Steam is popular is due to their massive userbase - anything on steam has a huge built in potential userbase - that is the only reason why games go on Steam - because for many gaining instant access to millions of potential customers is worth 30%.
A big wall with nothing but useless and hating text. And still not answering my simple question "Which Western Publisher would you choose?"
Aaaaaaaaaaanyway - "The reason why Steam is popular is due to their massive userbase" and with this Kano , you shitted on everything you said.

for a lot less then 30% ? A lot less, I tend to believe you are talking about .. what? 15% ? How the fuck a Publisher can survive with all the above costs with 15% from the revenues?! I mean with the tech and engines we have today some would say WoW would fall under "generic" also. Bless looks ok but we are in serious mmo drought. Outside of BDO, We have gotten nothing new only ports from the east. I'll give it a go when it launches, i played the Korean version but quit because combat was slow. If they sped it up enough it will keep my interest.
Will go around in circles yah uh huh looks like a Billy Preston song to me, oh well.
Many gamer's actually plays exactly like the one in this video. I often rotate my camera while I kill mobs. Did you ever watched a Starcraft Pro Match? No? Well , go on youtube and see. The "haotic" camera moves, key's pressed and such , keeps the player "on". But then again, maybe you are that kind of a player with one hand on your chin, and the other on your mouse.
Anyway , it is known the Bless PR team lacks the experience to create "Western" promo's. But that is fine for me. If they created videos with flashy and some CGI's, you will then comment "bah! CGI show us the real thing". Aka , whatever they show , you will not be satisfied.
