News and game sorting

With the amount of games covered, and the diversity of those games, a way to ignore news I am not even slightly interested in, or would or could be interested in but it gets lost in the deluge of noise.

I have been playing video games for a long time.  I know what I like and I definitely know what I don't like.  I have no interest in games with no pve content such as mobas or arena or survival games.  Some people have no interest in games with forced pvp.  I don't mind as long as the games have quests or non-grind pve as well.  I have no interest in games with no character progression and heavy, well developed rpg systems.  I know a lot of people come here just for traditional rpg news.  I am stuck scrolling through the news section and ignoring most items.  I used to put time into trying to figure out what type of game a game actually was, but after realizing almost all of them are games I don't care about I am now in the habit of just ignoring anything I don't know.  Which leads me to not learn anything about new mmorpgs - the main reason I used to come to this site.

I disagree with a lot of steam tags but at least that would narrow down news to a manageable amount of noise I could put some effort into sifting through and may be able to find out some news about new games I actually am interested in.

It would be great if this tag system could also be used for the games list so I can finally sort it and use that too.  The general gamers this site seems to be aimed at can still receive all the news about all games, and the users with more specific tastes can also sort out the noise.

I don't see any down sides to this, other than label hippies calling games like Zelda rpgs and the usually nonsense you get from them, unless it impacts advertising.  But this would be a way to have more impactful targeted advertising.  Or just always include the articles from companies that pay you to post them always show up when we sort.

I was just about to hit post and saw a big "tags" section I can type in and don't know what that's about, but if there is a way to sort news and games by tags it isn't obvious to me.  Is there?

I agree with this, I would like some kind of global filter that would allow me to customize content that I'm interested in.  For example, I have no interest in any of the Asian MMORPGs, if I could cut them out of the site I believe the user experience would be much better for me.

How about this as a reasonable way to whittle down all the noise?  How about a way to filter out games in these two ways-
    1) A game is more than a year out from release or has no release date.
    2) A game is within three months of release

Personally I'd use the three month filter as I am sick to death about hearing about games that don't even have a release date.  If you can't tell me when I can play your game I don't care about your game.  I'd really just rather know a month out but I'm figuring that is too much to ask.

I don't know why anyone feels that news about a game more than a year out is pertinent to anything, but a good portion seem to care.  I'm figuring a good chunk don't care but want more than a three month heads-up for whatever insane reason they have for it.

This way it is based on non-partisan information, but can be filtered into being reasonably useful, or at least chronologically sensible if we can't have logically sensible.

I think that it will be useful in all cases to improve your writing skills. I even know that here you might read interesting tips that will help you to write something for your website.
I don't have a website and have no interest in improving anything beyond my ability to sort out the news on this website for whole genres that don't interest me, and just get news on the genre the name of the website is named after.

Why don't you show off your super writing skills by helping me convince someone from this website to include a sensible filter?
