I am new here in Singapore and I would like to play old MMORPG since my laptop is not capable to handle NEW MMO's nowadays. Anyone here still playing old MMO's?
My first PvP MMORPG was also my first MMORPG ever; I created my account on June 2nd, 2003, and have been playing pretty regularly (not every day) until today. That's 15 years. I lost my first ship to a pilot named Icarus.
Vendetta Online.

Ragnarok Online and Knight Online. And they are my first mmorpg experiences as well. Knight Online is still one of the best pvp mmos I've ever played till this day...
DAOC, I played AC before that but was not sure MMOs were for PvP then, so did not get myself tagged. Coming from a FPS and RPG background I was not sure PvP should be MMO gameplay, they seemed better kept apart. DAOC convinced me that not only was PvP worthwhile in a MMO, but that the best MMOs had both PvE and PvP.
It's not quite an MMORPG but my first experience with Open World PvP was Freelancer. I had been lazily flying around the game PVEing and making friends when a group started causing problems for those friends I made.
I loaded up a ship with equipment I figured would be good, went out there and got blown up. Then I loaded it up differently, went out there, and did alright. Then after a few days of fighting with my new ship I made some major edits, went out there, and wiped the floor with them.

Indeed, also my first mmo and PvP mmo. Former Eternal Knights paper priest and destroyer of Warriors and Rogues. Ares for life.
All hail to those who played Ultima Online. I saw my Dad playing that game when we have square type monitor. My first MMORPG and pure PVP is Rohan from PH now it came back from SEA and currently playing it lol.
I tried to leave the town. I could not get out at all . It was very early in my PC gaming before that I was on Playstation. Not being able to step out of the gates left me with a bad impression of PvP until I think Dark Age of Camelot where I enjoyed it a lot more. The minute Gaheris opened though I dumped the server I was on.
EVE Online and now everything else blows compared to it because nothing really compares to the open world and balance n such EVE has but then again this was also back in 2007 when EVE actually had like some hardcore solo PVP and smaller.
You could fly into low sec and do like 2 vs 4 or 4vs 6 or something of the like without worrying about being blobbed by 30-40 people or someone dropping caps and or supers on you etc..
I'd wake up and literily no life EVE all day.. waking up at like 10-11 AM then I wouldn't go to bed till downtime at 3 or 4 AM then wake up an do it all over again.
constantly pirated out in Old Man Star and Hevrice etc.. Elarel and Groothese as well back when Master Miners was around an some other random pirate groups etc.. _______________________________________________________
EVE was my baby though.. I played the hell out of it and just genuinely enjoyed the game back in those days.. I love the risk vs reward aspect of being able to kill someone and loot their wreck/ship but the same goes for myself as well..
The game isn't pay to win by any means even if you buy PLEX or ISK it doesn't matter it always comes down to pilot skill and knowledge.. can have a super expensive fit or equipment on your ship doesn't mean ur gonna win if the other person knows what they are doing and can counter you be it electronic warfare or speed/agility n such there's always something..
I really feel like there's nothing else out there that even comes close to EVE sadly.. I hope maybe Ashes of Creation hits the nail on the head or at least pretty damn close but we'll see. I played ArcheAge for a bit which was a good filler but the p2w is just crazy how much money people throw at it just so they can have Epic or Legendary gear or higher even.
I hope someday I'll find another EVE style game that I can enjoy for many years.. I played EVE from 2007 till about 2015-2016 then finally retired. Miss the game deeply wish devs/publishers n shit would stop being so damn greedy and really make something worth a damn and something that's actually ya know.. finished? with actual end-game content and good PVP mechanics..
tired of all these half-assed early access money grabbing titles that don't even last. I wish people would wise up and STOP giving in.. stop paying for early access.. stop giving the devs your money.. dont support them any longer. we deserve better.
Anyways enjoy everyone thanks if you read all of this, take care.
You are the ship, there are graded levels of protection but you can be shot anywhere (no magical barriers) with factional consequences, there is a player to player economy, sell prices change based on player activity...
An important difference is that there is a robust physics model (with a few artificialities such as a speed limit and FTL travel). It's made by a team that is a fraction the size of CCP, but it has actually been publicly available for longer than Eve.

Be the Ultimate Ninja! Play Billy Vs. SNAKEMAN today!
Was a lotta fun in its heyday, when the servers were poppin'.
Personally I'd try with Lineage 2, old PCs should be able to run it smoothly.
but Ragnarok quite lag.
Is there anyone playing this game?
