World of Warcraft News - Battle for Azeroth will be rolling out worldwide simultaneously when launch day arrives on August 14th for the World of Warcraft expansion. This marks the first time in WoW's history that an expansion has launched simultaneously in all regions.

    I think this is amazing. Maybe one day they'll erase the server barriers between regions too. :)

    The barrier of that isn't made by them. It's just the internet speed of our time. They can't allow everyone on the same server where one continent group has largely much better latency while others lag & unpleasant experiences because of that

    Its always fun to return to WOW for a new expansion . A 6pm launch sounds fun, Now someone who knows tech explain to me why Blizzard has the "know" and the servers to not completely take a dump at that prime time of 6pm.

    They are removing realms now i think. You can play with anyone, guild with anyone. Pvp and pve will be the only difference. And that you can enable or disable whenever you want. Think i heard this in a q&a

    You've been able to play with anyone you want for years now. Except when it came to mythic raiding and arena that is. Also to clarify for others a point you made. Blizzard is not removing realms entirely, they're simply removing PVP realms as a choice. You'll be able to opt in for pvp in your factions capital and you'll be phased into zones with others who have also opted in for pvp when it comes to the open world. So that means there's no longer a need for "PvP" realms to be a thing anymore.

    Anyone know if they plan on releasing information about the classic server at any point before this expansion? Or can I safely ignore all blizzard articles until after this releases?

    Their focus is on the expansion. They announced classic servers about 9 months ago and only finished the hiring process a few months ago. It's gonna be awhile. I'd say late 2019 when Battle for Azeroth is in the middle of its lifespan though, depending on the technical issues, it could go to 2020.

    Yeah same here. I don't mind the struggle to log and play at launch at least I haven't missed a single one, but I might do the smart thing this launch and just get proper sleep and than start fresh early in the morning. For me it will be 2AM if I'm not mistaken... Might as well get some sleep till 6-7 and start then. I Imagine by then if there are any issues they would be solved.

    Downside is that when you are among the first, leveling is really easy because there aren't any people killing, looting etc... your stuff. I still remember when I got my realm first, It was so nice not to have anyone bother you leveling, but then again with no realm first what's the point in rushing nowadays right?

    I suppose the upside to early start is that you can go full War Mode(15% more xp) and no one will bother you. The first at least 12 hours I doubt that you will see players from the opposite faction with War Mode on. I know that Blizzard has balanced PvP for lower level players(I got ganked on my 112 mage from 120 monk and I killed him), but sadly even then not all classes can do proper "getting gank" PvP. If someone jumps on my Ele shammy if he isn't half brain dead 1 proper silence an 1 stun is all they need :(

    The best thing about this for Blizz is that they will be able to report record breaking sales and player numbers for a ton of free publicity. Really though, it'll be kinda the same as every expansion.
    I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
