that explains why they had to rewrite it. I do hope they touched up all of their previous bugs!

Putting it on consoles makes the wait worthit.

    lol

All games have a ton of bugs.

Defiance has more than others - cause hellbugs ;)

Wait, are you being facetious with the use of the word bugs? Because if not, that's a heavy generalization.

All games have bugs, not all have a ton.

I can also tell you it's exactly the same. If you didn't like or are done with the old Defiance, there's nothing for you here.

I feel bad for all the people that invested into the original.

Yep - the quests and the world are the same

    The mobs are harder.

The tutorial is shorter (hated the original tutorial was loooong)

    Whats new is:

    Classes
    Weapon progression
    64 bit client and server
    Higher textures on consoles
Much steeper difficulty scaling as you get to mid-end game content, I was getting absolutely smashed by the SanFran bridge solo - even in grouped our gear was just not good enough

    Everything else is the same.

For me if they nail the class uniqness I will play as a combat medic to 5000 ego again.

    if not - they failed
Unfortunately, all that stuff you listed could've fit into a patch.

I'm really looking forward to this, enjoyed the original and have no problem jumping in from the beginning again as long as progression feels right this time.

Well at least we know why they rebooted it the way they did. Any other reason they tried to spin up was BS. THIS is why. Trino needs some of that console money.

Trion ? lol !!!! Never again!!!

It never really worked well as a PC title but on console as an in-betweener F2P game they'll pick up some nice revenue with low overhead.

Too bad "no tricks no traps" turned into repackaging the same game to the people who actually already supported it while the TV show was on.

As someone that tried the betas, give this a pass if you owned the original an stopped playing it over time. It is the exact same game but now they want to shoehorn you into a class. The quest were even pretty much the same. You actually have less options now than before and to be honest it didn't look any better at all visual wise. To me this is a straight up cash grab and slap in the face to those that owned the original. There are many things that will not be ported over into this from that game that had cost real world money. This should have been pushed out as a update to the original instead of calling it a new game and hoping people are dumb enough, which they are, to buy the class packs. For those that never played the original maybe give it a whirl, it is f2p for certain things.

Oh wow they took advantage of modern hardware. So does that mean they upgraded from the Atari they were using as servers ?

The quests and the world are the same - the classes and weapon progression are different. The mobs are harder (I think the idea is to have groups with classes now).

Visuals wise on PC - the client is 64bit so it runs smoother and textures are crisper - but it's really slight - it's basically the same damn game.

The game is F2P, has an open beta - so anyone can try it - so not sure how it's a "cash grab" - when everyone can try before they buy before and after launch. Call it lazy if you want, but not "cash grab" IMO.

Cash grab games have no open beta, want money up front and have no ways of trying the game for free - just my 2c, they usually have some silly "no refunds accepted after purchase" line - those are qualifiers for a cash grab game.

As I said above - the systems (class and weapons) are so different that the old database schema is not compatible - so can't "push" this as an update - as weapons system features are completely different so old weapons wouldn't work at all in 2050.

I'd love to just keep my ego 5000+ character instead of doing the entire story arc again - man I'd kill to be able to skip that as I am not a story/quest guy. But nope - everyone starts from scracth because patching was not an option.

I am sure this alone will lose them players - so if there was a way to have old data translated into new systems, they would have done it - as this starting over from scratch business is only going to lose them players.

I agree with you that for PC players - this is not going to be a focus - but for XBONE and PS4 players who never had this on their platform - gonna be a brand new game for them.
The cash grab is locking classes behind the premium pay wall.  So if you enjoyed playing with that skill set before well guess what now you have to cough up the money again to play what you already had.

I understand the issues of all things not working vs the old code.  They could have pushed it out and basically did the here for everyone that had this ego we gave you weapons equivalent to ratings and some of the new premium cash as a perk for staying with us in the transition.  Overall it really doesn't matter.  If a person was no longer playing this game they most likely will not go back and stay for long if they go back at all.

I feel really sorry for those few that were still playing though because now their version of the game is most defiantly in maintenance mode.  I mean it pretty much already was, but still.  Doesn't matter how many times they say they are going to keep working on the old game, when it isn't bringing in new money it will get axed.

If you can't wait till July 10th, just play the original Defiance. It's pretty much the same game.

The enemies being harder could be a pay2win mechanic, because watch them allow you to bascally get top rarity weapons for cash that virtually never will drop in the actual game. I'll give this a try as I never got far in the orignal.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

This was posted on the Defiance forums. Trions way of dealing with it was to delete the post and ban the user.. Ask yourself so you really want to deal with a company like this? Personally i think he hit the nail right on the head.

Its quiet obvious to me that the long standing loyal players (customers) no longer matter to Trion where Defiance is concerned.

The servers have been unplayable for so long now its pathetic. For a gaming company to have problems like this and not fix them is unbelievable. I would say they dont know how to fix the problem, but i dont think that is the case ( Any company worth its salt would fix the problem so if Trion cant fix i suggest they hire someone that actually knows what they are doing for a change). I personally think they are reluctant to fix the problem in the hope this will push more people who would otherwise be reluctant to play 2050 onto 2050. This is where the lets create a problem on defiance servers so we have a good excuse to close it down starts

I have given 2050 a good go but it is just not Defiance! It is hugely lacking for a "new" Game its the same old thing with a few (in my opinion bad) changes (They could have just done a major patch And advertising campaign for the old defiance and saved themselves time and money)

I have bought 3 different versions of the games and spent in the cash shop but understandably i know thats done and dusted but what happens to the fact i have a 12 month patron with a fair few months still left on it? I have a feeling it will be brushed under the rug along with all the other problems that get blatantly ignored.

Trion i am disgusted with you and the whole way you have handled this fiasco you have lost so many loyal players (customers) You clearly have little or no people skills and could have handled this so much better You have proven once again you are truely incompetent, it beggars belief you have made it this far.

Sorry for the rant loyal players (customers) its not something i normally do and it is just based on my opinion of which i am entitled to. I feel the need to get this off my chest. There is plenty more to say but i wont drag it out too much.
