Thanks to
@AIBQuirky for finding and posting the video below in another thread.
This is what we really know so far about FO76 so far:
- It's a survival game with a couple of dozen players
- It has PVP on always - even when you "solo" - so it's no different than most other survival games in that respect.
- No there is no offline mode
- No there are no different "server" types
- There are no human NPCs and no NPC factions
- There are some robotic quest givers
- Quests will be mostly of the "found in the game while exploring" variety but the game is not quest-based
- When you die you WILL respawn with all progress - no need to start learning and researching from scratch
- No idea what happens to your items when you die but it sounds like 100% full loot from anything I've read or seen.
- The graphics engine is "current gen" and seems to be the same exact one used in Fallout 4

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

"not what it isn't"
"Although modern MMORPGs sometimes differ dramatically from their descendants, many of them share the same basic characteristics. These include several common features: persistent game environment, some form of level progression, social interaction within the game, in-game culture, system architecture, membership in a group, and character customization."
Why do we need another thread talking about what is in the other 10 page thread?
Something that is always online and always PvP will have no tolerance for a Bethesda style always bugs.
Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.
"At one point technology meant making tech that could get to the moon, now it means making tech that could get you a taxi."
Massively Multiplayer is what defines the genre first and foremost, interacting in a single persistent world 2nd, after these two everything else is debateable.
Hence the debate continues.

Conan Exiles still sounds like the better survival game for me to try out one day, once its "finished."

Gamers are a mob that run from game to game as soon as it is even available to play (in any damn state). If you listen closely, you can hear them roar "To the neighbors!" as they advance on the next new shiny that is announced.

But my patience is pretty legendary, Fallout 3 didn't impress me so it was about 9 years until I got around to trying New Vegas in 2017.
This one could be longer.

Mini-mmo is redundant.
EDIT- it's become hilariously sad how badly folks want to avoid using the plain term "multiplayer" to describe, well, plain multiplayer.

Looks like Cyberpunk might be my last hope, or else I'm likely to get much more exercise(gasp!) next year.
The how and PVP on 24/7 part is not even all that clear in the presentation. You need the follow up interviews for that and even there he's still deliberately not being clear about it. Just watch at 2 minutes 10 second of the video interview in the first post in this thread.
Interviewer: "So you can pick and say I don't want PVP?"
TH: "Wellllll... we want a little bit of drama there."

I must have missed the part where he said the focus of the game is PVP. Is there a link to that? I saw the part about him explaining that it will have the great exploration and story that all of their games are known for.
Did you watch the interview embedded in the first post in this thread?
Howard does a great job at the E3 presentation event of making it sound like it's got everything for everyone... job well done.
Now really listen to the interview he did after.
Interviewer: "So you can pick and say I don't want PVP?"
TH: "Wellllll... we want a little bit of drama there."
What does that sound like to you?

RECLAMATION 76
(Based on the Fallout Universe)After several games of single player immersion they come on board and leverage the brand name to throw survival OWPVP into the mix. That IS jarring. They should have first announced a decent DLC for the latest Fallout to appease their loyal base and then dropped this bomb (no pun intended) on the gaming world. It would have greased the doorway.
With all that said I'm definitely trying this, as I have managed to hold off on playing the previous titles and have no preconceived expectations. I think Bethesda will get all the things right where others have failed.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
