I wonder what determines eligibility as I've spent money on MHO but I don't qualify. Do consoles and Steam not apply?

eligibility is determined if you had same email registered on trion and MHO and played something from them you won't be able to use it...

i had 10 MHO accounts, 1 was on same email as i used for Trion games rest of them was MHO *only* emails = on 9 "MHO only emails" it was working for me, on 10th which i was playing rift i had "You either must log in to claim or are not eligible to claim."

So you have to have a MH email address that you never used with Trion. That explains why it's not working for me. I didn't get Primal because they couldn't fix my Steam account linking.

Seems that way, but I think it's an error. Right now I can only see people who are making 'new' accounts with their MH email(s) being able to claim the offer. The fine print doesn't state anywhere that it needs to be a new account though so they need to change it if that was the intention.

I've put in a ticket - but if it's restricted to new accounts that would be so lame. But I would not be surprised to see Trion pull that

well better trion (and i despise trion nowdays) than no1 :/ , but im not going to buy all the heores i bought again thats for sure

too bad my MH mail wasnt the same as Trion games :(, and im unable to login using the MHO mail uhm
Marvel Heroes isn't coming back.  Just get that dream out of your head.  It wasn't making enough money for Disney and Gazillion couldn't even afford to make their required payments.

The best hope is that they reskin the game with their own newly created IP.  But at that point they lose the only thing ARPGers stuck with the game for.  As other ARPG's were much better.
It wasn't the only thing. Marvel Heroes did have easily the largest class selection of any ARPG and MMO-style patrol zones, which were easily the most popular mode. No other ARPG can provide that. Marvel Heroes was pure multiplayer chaos, and many loved it for it.

Unfortunately the population numbers were pretty bad for something that requires heavy licensing fees. It was stagnant at about 2k active players at a time on steam, and even during movie launches it didn't peak much higher. Console seemed to be doing okay when I tried it but who knows if they were making anything off of it.

I agree, but that doesn't contradict or change my statement.

The problem with MHO is that its progression system and content were incredibly lacking and ill-conceived. It was a very fun novelty for about a week, then became nothing more than a prestige grind.

You capped omega points and had full BiS gear in a week? Damn dude you're a beast.

Okay, let me rephrase that. I am making two statements here: 1) progression and content were lacking and 2) progression was ill-conceived.

It was very possible to get max tier (if not best in stat) gear very quickly, depending on character. Maxing omega within a week is not possible/feasible, but it would be difficult to argue that omega points are content as they aren't compelling to chase and do not change the way one plays content to obtain; their only purpose is to provide some marginal progression to an account over time in the same way as D3's paragon points.

Content was the bigger issue. The game had a short story, completable in a few hours. It had a few patrols which loop roughly an hours worth of content endlessly. It had terminals, which were just story boss fights with difficulty settings + 3 unique terminals.

This left X defence, danger room, randomly generated scenarios, and raids to pick up the slack, which they didn't, because most of these modes went unplayed.

Because variety of content to chase progression was unsatisfactory and several modes were effectively dead content, this basically turned the game into a prestige grinder for most.

I submitted a ticket and they've made some changes to my account so that I can accept one of the packs with my 'current' Trion account.

If you can't claim on your existing account, submit a ticket! It took a couple hours to get a response.

They never added the content that needed anywhere close to capped omega.  You also didn't need to do raids to get raid gear.

Ooh good free crap for games that aren't MHO at all, by a company who bought that data, in hopes hopes I'll spend money with them on games that aren't MHO. That'll work.
They didn't buy the assets to try to win over MHO players.  Give me a break

Yeah this is a charity exercise because Trion felt bad. Do you even understand the difference between game assets and user data? Please enlighten us with the point you forgot to include in your post.
They didn't simply pay for a list of users, they mostly paid for an ARPG engine on PC and two consoles.

Please let me know you when you are ready to use logic
I never said they did. I said they bought user data, which they did. No shit it was part of a bigger package. The entire package encompasses more than MHO too. All I've basically said is Trion saw the gold in the user data and wasted no time trying to mine it. I never said that was the only reason they bought the package. That was something you read into it.

It seems more than apparent to me Trion is very interested in the MHO user data and attracting those users to their game in hopes of generating more revenue.
I responded to what you wrote.  It's not my fault you focused on the lesser part of the package they purchased and completely ignored the main reason for the purchase ...

unfortunatly i was a marvel heroes player and also a trion player however when clicking the link and logging into my trion account i am not elegible for this.
  • MadFrenchieMadFrenchie Member LegendaryPosts: 8,505
@Torval yea I was being tongue in cheek, but it would be depressingly hilarious if this was the only move Trion makes outta the purchase.

I'm sure there was more to it than user data, though.
