Monster Hunter World News - The Financial Times (subscription only - see link below) is reporting that Capcom's shares dropped nearly 13% on the same day that the company announced the PC release date for Monster Hunter World. The drop came after Bank of America Merrill Lynch downgraded Capcom's stock rating to "underperforming". The company cited "significant risk of sales decline" for Monster Hunter World just a month ahead of the Steam release.

Buy them now, sell couple months later after reports about huge number of PC sales.

Why would the game be expected to keep up an incredible sales pace long term? That's just absurd. Most sales of any game occur in the first few days after launch. Monster Hunter will get another sales burst on PC, then dwindle to its stable point just like every other video game.

And afterwards, Capcom will have DMC5 and RE2 Remake to boost profits. Capcom are gods right now.

I'd think most people who use consoles also have PCs for games. Is it worth buying another copy just to play on PC? The game reminded me of GW2 a little too much giving me no reason to rush into it until it's on sale.

didnt purchase it on PS4, waiting for it for PC but wont be buying right away as it i dont think its worth £50. Once it hits a sale for 50% off i can see many peeps buying it then (inc many who own it on console) but to buy it on PC at full price as well would be wasteful, that and nobody knows if the conversion is going to be good or bad. Lets face it most console to PC games suck yet PC to Console games dont.

I own a PS4, but I gotta be honest...  I dislike playing games on it compared to PC.  If a game is coming to PC, I'll forego purchasing a console version and buy it for PC, instead.

I dont think people here in the article above or in comments understood or actually read that report.

What that report says, which was prepared for 1 month before but they decided to release it 2 days after announcing this game comes on PC (strange right !?) is that the sales have declined in April compared to Jan, Feb and March which is very obvious to happen so due to multiple reasons..
The most important one is that gamers are very familiar with promotions and discounts (Summer sales and 3 months after games are released, there is almost always a promotion).

Based on my estimations, they have sold 3-4 more millions copies in the summer discounts on PS and Xbox and they will probably sell 10 million copies on PC by the end of the year which brings their may estimated revenue for 2018 (the one the report is based on) 40% under my expectation for end of the year.

Now absolutely the price per share is overevaluated at this point and it should be in the range of the current drop but not due to this article... This drop should have happened roughly 1 week AFTER the announcement of the amount of copies sold.

I am writing this because I am also an investor in Capcom and I am a bit more documented than the content creators for this particuler title.

I'm guessing no one at MMORPG.com has heard the saying "Buy the rumor, sell the news"

It's not an "odd twist", It's expected

Thanks for that. It was informative, polite, and respectful in its criticism. That's super rare lately.

The timing for this does seem unfortunate though even if the announcement isn't connected. People form an association in their mind when these things happen. I suppose only a fool would hop on a buy/sell bandwagon without doing some research or understanding the environment first.

The market is jumpy right now, everyone is watching for the inevitible correction which is coming.

I feel like this game is going to be (P2E) Pay 2 Enjoy because the wiki says they charge $3 or more per character edit voucher, just like Nexon, and NCsoft does with Vindictus & Aion totally insane, I would rather pay $15 like in Black Desert Online which allows a user to edit appearance as much as they want to as long as its paid but looks like this game is adopting the cosmetic, and cash grab values just like every other Korean MMORPG on the market.

MHW is not P2E. I've spent only the money for the title and have over 200 hours of enjoyable play time.
